In spite if being a 10 year old girl ruling a small House, this character was extremely believable. Every time she opened her mouth during her scenes, she was spot on with everything she said. She was honest, direct, loyal, truthful, sincere, determined, proud, courageous and unflinching, and she remained consistent with those values throughout the series. Because her character was the culmination of their writing and directing ability. She was no more believable than a dragon flying over New York city would have been. She was easily manipulated, brave for no reason, listlessly wise, Arrogant to a fault, and was only given the basic tragic back story that all lazy writing produces. (Responsibility thrust upon her by the tragic death of her parents and brother fighting for a noble cause, she grow wise beyond her years through reverse osmosis having never experienced a battle, or a conflict other than squabbles with her siblings of the occasional village kid trying to look up her skirt.) Come on, she is swinging weapons that easily weigh 7-10 lbs like they are made of paper. My 10 year old can't swing a hammer for more than a few minutes and she helps me in my forge regularly. A marry sue character created to be a literal David and Goliath yet the point of that story was to show how David's own skills worked to his advantage.

I think one of the the things that people miss with Lady Mormont is that she is the one truly pure soul we meet in Game of thrones. Her faith absolute, her will iron, her loyalty unshakeable and her courage unwavering. Jon may have been the King of the north, but Lyanna was the embodiment of its truest soul.
