I don't have a capsule wardrobe (I'd never be able to limit myself), but I often use a capsule wardrobe idea for travelling, it means i can pack less, but still be versatile. I do use some of the ideas though - I do have a limited colour palette, its not all neutrals, as I love colour - I stick to navys, creams, reds, burgundy, and pretty much every blue, with the odd piece in warm beige. Reds and the brighter blues are accent colours, but creams, navy, and more muted blues are my mainstay colours. I do try and make sure my pieces will mix and match with other items, and I've definitely started asking myself if I have something similar before buying. I think my way of dressing, is like having several capsule wardrobes within one larger wardrobe - it works for me, even more so as I track how much I wear things (I can then try and work out why I dont wear certain things, despite them being perfect on paper).

I love how you encourage us to make the capsule wardrobe our own. I have a large bosom and wider shoulders, so turtlenecks never suited me. I learned that my version would be a fitted merino wool v neck cardigan or light knit sweater 🤗 Great tips LJ! And still relevant for this season (fall 2024)

I am confused by comments about coats dressing up or impacting an outfit in any way. I want my coat to look nice but to me it has little to do with what I wear under it. I put my coat on in my house, get in my car in my garage, drive to my destination & within 2 minutes, I am inside the building with my coat off.

If you forget about the number of items a typical capsule wardrobe has, I think you could definitely have a capsule wardrobe. I feel like your staples mix and match really well and you’ve such a cohesive colour palette. When I started with capsule wardrobes I tried to stick to the “33 items” but now I probably have more like 50-60 per season but they all follow the same style and colour palette and everything goes together. Capsules don’t have to be limited or boring 😊

Hi Lydia, I am moving to London and I've be warned about bringing the right clothing items over. For example, it rains a lot over there. I would loveeee to see a video of stylish pieces you would recommend every person to have, if they live in London for all seasons.

You probably won't believe it but on average it rains more in parts of Florida than it does in London! You need to cover all eventualities when dressing for British weather but on average London has dry days over 70% of the year. Hope your move goes well, London is a hotbed of amazing fashion! 🙂

I live in the UK, and I have the following coats for the rain: For Summer rain (it can be warm AND rainy) you need something light otherwise you will get too hot: - a long, below the knee trenchcoat, it is lightweight but also stops me getting wet. Plus an umbrella. - casual - a lightweight Pacamac style jacket, with a hood. For Winter rain (It can be very cold and rainy, but we rarely get snow these days), so you need a warm, thick coat. - Smart - a below the knee wool coat, plus wooly hat, gloves and scarf - Casual - a padded (duvet) coat, the longer the better. Plus woolly hat, gloves and scarf I always try to buy coats with a hood as it means I don't have to take an umbrella out with me. If it is going to rain very heavily, I will take an umbrella but most likely, not go out unless I really have to :) Enjoy your time in London.

I've done this for the last few years and I can only recommend for its sheer simplicity ! Today's ensemble is a cream poloneck under a navy and cream varsity style V-neck sweater with dark blue denim jeans, black chunky boots and when I go out later I'll pull on a navy overcoat for added cosiness 😁

The styles are fun, yet the limited way to style wide, straight, boot length, jeans needing different kinds of shoes/ boots for each one is exhausting! Many people simply can't afford to spend more money on outfits. Not sure if many influencers can even relate to these issues... 🍁🙃

this is great! and, again, ty for stating the obvious - it is very difficult to live on 9 {give or take} pieces of clothing for years and years. while i don't want to own A LOT of clothes, i do like to include a few up-to-date pieces. if styles didn't change, no one would be able to sell clothes and retailers would go out of business lol.
