Uber should not allow a rider to cancel the ride once it starts, I have no idea why this is even possible. It sounds like UBER does not protect their drivers.

Most phones have GPS though, so if the requester/driver are within a couple feet of each other during the trip this means the rider is valid and should not be able to cancel.

I agree. I told Uber the same thing. Why can a passenger cancel mid-trip while in my car? It shouldn’t be possible. They should only be able to cancel before the trip starts. It doesn’t make sense!

she just told you why, it's in case the wrong pax gets in the car and the driver takes off. I've had pax cancel on me 10 seconds before reaching the destination during a 2x surge ride. I just called uber, they traced the pickup and saw what the trip should have paid and reimbursed me. Dunno what happened to the pax.

I am glad I am not the only one to notice this! I find it really funny that people who actually tip never mention it and those who say they will tip never do. While I find it funny I don't get it either. Why tell me your going to tip when your not? I don't care if you don't nor do I expect them to tip. If they claim that they are going to tip me because they have a request for me then thats dumb too. There are things I will do regardless whether they tip or not because I like to give good customer service. And if its a request I am not willing to do then them claiming that they will tip me is not going to change my mind.

I only do UberEats now, but somebody tried to scam me and say I didn't deliver their food. I anticipated this happening at some point, so I downloaded a spy camera app on my phone. I sent Uber the video of me getting out of my car, walking to the house, ringing the doorbell, asking the customer the name on the order, the customer telling me the name, and then me handing him the bag and saying "Here is your 5 Guys order, Robert. Hope you enjoy your Cheeseburger and Fries." Uber gave me back the money the customer tried to scam me out of.

Tried doing the Uber eats deliveries, It's horrible. In the last week we've had horrible thunderstorms but I still went out to make that extra money. It was a bad experience, in Miami Beach there's no parking by the restaurants you eather have to park in a parking garage or valet park. Then when you get to residential areas it's zone parking permits. So you have to leave your car double park on the street and go inside apartment buildings to wait for someone to open the gates. Someone wrote a review saying that the food looked like I tampered with it. Also that I didn't explain the food to them I delivered it and left. Well pooring rain, doubled park, person did not have the audacity to open the gates therefore I am wet and my special food bag is wet. After 10 tries I just press no thanks button and continue driving I actually make more money transporting passengers. I believe that Uber eats it's not good in all markets.

Any location that hands out memos or flyers on how to scam drivers need to be banned as a pickup location by Uber/Lyft. Whether it be a college, law firm, park, etc. if you know any place participating in this take a copy of what there distributing, walk into your local hub and ask for one of the higher ups at that location. Also tell them that the particular location needs to be boycotted by their company. Also take it to a news outlet.

I think I was scammed by the Lyft passenger cancelling the ride near the destination, then distracting me from noticing this on the app by pointing out where to turn and directing me. Then when I clicked online I'd dropped him off, my earnings were zero!!

Great video munchkim, I actually have a lot of passengers in the Miami area that ask me to stop at a market or a liquor store so they could buy booze for their party or get together that they're going to. Sometimes I am afraid to say no because I don't want them to give me a bad review. On Friday the 6th of this month I picked up a couple on uber pool and they asked me to stop at the supermarket, they got a 12 pack of beer and a couple of bottles of wine. Like you said they will say to you they will tip you well and they don't not even give you a dime. I had a 4.91 rating until someone gave me 1 star and commented that I have a lack of professionalism. After that I stopped giving candy and little water bottles to my riders on both Lyft and Uber. I just got tired of cleaning up candy rappers and water bottles because my riders can't put the trash inside the trash I have can in the center of the car. Right now I am starting to feel that people don't care about the fact that it's your car, your insurance and I am doing this to pay my bills. Great videos I really enjoy them.

Over here in Miami you always see in the local news how drivers are stopping the rides and kicking customer out of their vehicles. I picked up this guys that would not put out his cigarette so I told him that I would give him a few minutes until we go. But homeboy insisted for me to put down my windows so he could smoke. I actually said no to him, I told him that this is not an uber car this is my personal car and during the day I transport my kids to school. Anyway also cigarette smell is very hard to take out of a car. So he tells me I am paying you for a service. I once again told him to smoke outside and we'll continue the ride. I noticed that he was intoxicated my whole car smelled like sweat and alcohol. All of this because I didn't want a bad review again. So like you said people are rude, they don't care but we need the extra cash. The market here in Miami and South Florida are a mix some people are really nice and respectful some are rude and think you're their personal limo driver or something, very demanding and at the end of it don't even tip you not even on the app. Some people even complain to me about how expensive Uber down here has gotten and have the odasity

I got dinged this past week twice for having "a dirty car" (I ended up finding a g@ddamn cheato stuffed between the middle seat belt assembly in my KIA). Also the floor mats were covered in dirt and other crap. Funny how they ended up that way after being clean beforehand. Sadly, I drive for Lyft in Tampa and there are some sketchy/crappy people that have gotten into my car (including one who started off "Most drivers hate me"). Needless to say, I'm getting a damn camera cause I ain't gonna get deactivated over some scammer!

I've only had 1 cancel during the ride mid trip and Uber wouldn't do anything. I requested and Uber agreed that the individual would never ride in my vehicle again--this isn't LA, NY or SF so we are not flooded with extra drivers.

Also some good tips , how to start your drive. Like where is the best place in town to start and finish. Another tool is the destination feture, when you are finished and heading home set the destination roughly half way to your final destination then once you get there set it again to the final destination, you will get more rides

Pool express is in my market. Passengers save on the pool price by walking a short distance to the pick up location and may walk a short distance from the drop off location to their destination. Some passengers still expect door to door service with Pool Express. If a passenger leaves a child in the car at a stop, then takes a long time to handle business, it seems appropriate to call the police. That's not just inconsiderate to the driver, it's highly irresponsible and possibly neglectful to leave small children with a complete stranger like that.

munchkym I think they often know, but just want to save money without the inconvenience. One lady called me and said she couldn't walk that far. She cancelled then requested with pool or UberX. I appreciated that. I try to work with my passengers though. I will usually pick them up when I notice them walking toward me. Or if they were at the pick up point, I will usually take them all the way if it's raining or something like that. I don't mind working with passengers as long as it's within reason. Sometimes, it's easier for ME if Ia help them out. I do think Uber needs to do something about passengers who try to exploit the express service, though.

Bob Mcglone Good question! It’s best to not drive around too much unless you get GREAT gas mileage, but while you’re still figuring out your market, I do recommend driving around. It will help you know where is a good place to post up. :)

The new drivers expectation on TIPS is INSANE to me. In the USA servers get paid crumbs and depend on tips! I will always tip 20% or more for a meal. There is not a rating system for servers but there is for drivers. I always rate 5 stars for a good ride but, there is no way I'm tipping on a $30+ dollar ride to the airport... when the driver helped me with one bag.

The free ride scam,it goes like this, they make up a story about you running stop signs and driving recklessly, or some other variation to get you fired and they get a free ride. I had this happen to me in Los Angles, the collage campuses are notorious for the free ride scam.

I am starting to worry if my Lyft account has been hacked. I am over 1000 rides, have kept a 4.95 rating on average, then all of a sudden I receive an email for 1) driving too fast, then a day later 2) for allegedly driving an unauthorized car and allowing another driver to use my account....both are absolutely baseless.....now my rating is starting to decrease rapidly......I am waiting for Lyft to call me directly upon request.

Thanks for info! Driving two weeks now. Quite common rider wants to go to different location. I thought Uber just adjusts the price and recognizes new location once we swipe at rides end?

Hey, thanks! It's still working out, but I take a lot of breaks from it (for a lot of personal reasons, mostly). Things have definitely gotten worse since I started 2 and a half years ago, but I do overall still like it.

I got scammed as a driver. Someone pinged me but they dropped the pin 3 blocks away OITSIDE OF THE SURGE area. I didnt realize it until afterwards. Never again.

One time I had two ladies on a Lyft line and I picked up another passenger and apparently the two ladies unexcusablly use Lyft line just to save money and were incompetent and they want to change the destination but they couldn’t I told then they’re stuck with that drop off. No they canceled the ride and I drop them off right away at a nearby parking lot. Luckily I had their info documented and then I reported them to Lyft and Lyft compensated me for the time and distance with the surge bonus. They were also complaining about the price the ride because they were in a surge zone.

Had a brother order a Lyft for his sister's and cancelled it 5 minutes into the ride. They called him, and he claimed he didn't. He reordered, but only back to their house. This was a 30 minute trip, originally. I called support. He was charged for both short trips, and they bonused the rest of the original cost.

Thanks! My momma didn't raise no fool. Perfect example: Picked up two young dudes at a train station. There was another couple of girls with them, but they were waiting for their rideshare. Dudes got on, we started the trip. All of a sudden, one of them gets a call from the girls: Their rideshare bailed on them and now they need a ride, so they ask me to turn around. I say no way. Dude #1 (who hadn't requested me) goes: "I'll give you $20 to turn around". Bet! Pulled over, I put out my hand and state: "If I'm gonna turn around, I need the $20 now". We had only been driving 5 minutes at that point. He gives me the $20, I drive back to the train station. When we get there, the girls are not there. Dude #1 calls them. "Oh, we found our rideshare and left" Dude #2 "I knew that was gonna happen". Felt bad for Dude #1, but you know what? It's not MY fault the girls weren't there by the time we got back. Do you REALLY think he would've given me the $20 after all of that? I. Don't. Think. So. But yeah, "Homey don't play dat!" Not a bad life lesson for the price, if you ask me.

I have a sad story to tell about my LYFT driving. I live in Denver and I picked up a "Logan" (a executive from SF with LYFT) from the hub on his way to the airport. He gushed how interested he was in hearing actual stories from drivers....he really cared about us as an important part of the company (he said). Well, he immediately took a phone call and did not speak to me for 45 minutes. Now this is ok in itself (lots of passengers need to do business during a ride) but he shouldn't have acted like he cared: He didn't. To top it off when he got to the airport he did not even acknowledge me OR TIP!!! An exec for LYFT took a 45 min ride to the airport and did not tip! I mean lots of people don't tip (less than 50%) but this guy works for the company. I think we have discovered the root of the problem: These upper 1% young people who have gushed about their 'new" approach to the economy are just the same fat cats from before. Show them the money and they stop caring about people. WTF????
