❓ What curves do you use?
🅰 I have a curve of 2.0 on roll which I set in-game. I also have a curve of 3.0 on forward/reverse thrust. Otherwise I do not use curves - I prefer linear responses because my stick movements produce more consistent and predictable ship actions over the full range of deflections this way.
❓ What sticks, pedals, etc. do you use and what are your keybindings?
🅰 Check out the link to my control setup video above.

I have always been trying to get my org mates to get good at decoupled flight, especially for orbiting targets in motion and doing formation flying. This video is a great resource to explain to them how decoupled works, especially with how it changes thrust and control deflection.

I usually use decoupled to let the rebels fly into a trap by pretending to flee but turning 180° so ...the people of Stanton can witness the firepower of my fully armed and operational battle stati...eh I mean battle ship.

Hey i subbed and checked out the page, looks like you haven't made any videos in nearly a year! I hope you can find the time or ambition to make more, because these are really, really helpful. I'm flying small ships in decoupled exclusively now, unless I'm cheesing mercenary missions lol But that is coming. I'm almost ready and it's thanks to videos like this that break down these new (to me) mechanics so well.

One question. Is roll momentum preserved too? As in if i roll right do I keep rolling right until I counter the roll by rolling to the left. Elite Dangerous does this and it makes dexoupled mide literally unflyable for me.
@UltiK
@UltiK Жыл бұрын
No, the momentum is not preserved in decoupled. It would be a nightmare if so

I HAD NO IDEA! I need to try that, something was always missing for me in terms of space flight immersion, pretty sure this is it, because even with cruise control I always felt like I'm not actually traveling vast space, but rather flying around a bit in between jumps.

I have an issue where if i decouple at lets say 160 speed leaving atmosphere (without afterburner). As soon as i decouple so i can look around while maintaining momentum, my speed goes down to like 36 . how does this work?
@Lykosar
@Lykosar 4 жыл бұрын
What's happening there is gravity and air resistance are slowing you down. The absence of these factors in space allows you to maintain velocity without additional thrust.

yeah this is still valid in 3.12, there might be a few minor technical inacuracies because things have changed (not that i know of, but i don't know everything either) but the concept of the video still remains true
