Lyle Lovett Is one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time. I don't think anybody has his range of styles. He does everything and few can come close.

Thank you a million times over for posting this. I could cry with the joy of seeing this early Lyle. Every summer he does a show at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA and every year I am once again overwhelmed with his talent and love of music. A class act.

I believe this song is actually called "Since the Last Time." Be that as it may...wow! I love the recorded version. How great to get to see an original acoustic version.

Had no idea that Lyle wrote this song so long ago! What a gift that you've captured this nuanced performance - along with the one with Nanci. Thank you SO much,Terry! Brenda de near-Toronto

He Could only be between 18-22 here, and yet his voice is so strong and clear. Fully Matured and full of body. Such a brilliant piece of history. You can hear a lot of Townes in his early voice here. Plus, anyone else think he looks a lot like Paul Rudd here: so young.

WOW, awesome footage. You can hear the last of Lyle's shell coming off in his singing. I didn't know he wrote this song so long before he recorded it. THANKS for posting.

As great a guitarist as he is, it is a shame we don't see him play solo very often. I can get how doing a whole set of his originals would leave a person finger-tied, but this was awesome. Thanks.

Maybe you know someone who can help explain why he's wearing a wedding ring, at age 21? Marriage at age 35 is always listed as his first...
