0:00 Introduction: #1 Nutrient deficiency involved in Lyme disease
0:26 Why vitamin D?
1:37 Understanding vitamin D receptors
4:07 Barriers to vitamin D absorption
4:44 How to increase vitamin D
In this video, we’re going to talk about the top nutrient deficiency in Lyme disease, vitamin D. The spirochete microbe involved in Lyme disease blocks your ability to receive vitamin D. This means you could have normal vitamin D levels in your blood but be severely deficient deep in your tissues.
Vitamin D typically comes from the sun and is absorbed into the liver and kidneys through your skin. It’s eventually turned into the active form of vitamin D but has to be received by a vitamin D receptor.
The spirochete microbe in Lyme disease downgrades your vitamin D receptors by 50 to 80x! This inhibits your immune system’s ability to fight the microbe.
Other microbes, viruses, and certain types of cancer also downgrade vitamin D receptors. If you have a problem with your vitamin D receptors, it won’t be detected in your blood. You must do a specialized vitamin D receptor test to identify the problem.
It’s estimated that 30% of the population has issues with the vitamin D receptor. Many people who are overweight have resistance to vitamin D at the receptor level. Other microorganisms like chlamydia, microplasmas, and aspergillus (toxic mold) downgrade vitamin D receptors.
The following factors can make it more difficult for your body to absorb vitamin D: darker complexions, old age, low cholesterol, seed oil consumption, and smoking. You also need adequate zinc and magnesium for vitamin D to work properly in the body.
Natural alternatives to increase vitamin D levels and combat vitamin D resistance include:
1. Large amounts of vitamin D, 50,000 IU sporadically (i.e., once a week)
2. Sunshine
3. Omega-3 fatty acids
4. Resveratrol
5. Intense exercise
6. Quercetin
7. Zinc
8. Boron
9. Progesterone
10. Sulforaphane
11. TUDCA

I’m not surprised at that result. The ancient Egyptians and also Indians of India used the bee sting treat various skin conditions including painful joints. It can be that the bees sting causes an immune reaction that counter acts the various diseases process.

Got bitten by a tick last week, extracted using a specialist tool. A few days in my bite turned into a rash. Therefore, I went into my local pharmacy and they did a visual inspection and asked me my symptoms and they confirmed that I do have lyme disease. Been prescribed 3 weeks course of Doxycycline antibiotics. My symptoms have already started to subside. 🙏 Maybe because I caught it very early.

Happy birthday to you Dr. Berg🎉 I was under many treatments for a tick bite including hospitalisation for IV. Then had to do a biopsy as citra versions didn’t work on me. It was concluded it was not a tick bite but a sand fly bite which meant I had to get 21 injections which was dreadful! Heat treatment was not an option since it’s on my ear. I opted for Ayurveda medics which is now working however, I had a pineapple yummy curry and then it got aggravated where I had to continue with medicine. It’s getting better again. Sometimes there’s so many simple solutions for problems that we need to be open to accept and give space in western medicine, to study from other methods like Ayurveda which is ancient and natural. Thx Dr. Berg

I caught Lyme in 2022, it’s been an ongoing nightmare since then. My vitamin D levels were severely low. Was put on a prescription of 50,000 IU per week for 3 months. I actually felt better after a month of use. Once the prescription ran out, I started going downhill fast. New PCP won’t give me a prescription for it again, claiming my level is OK. My vitamin B levels crashed really low too. A B12 injection reversed my symptoms, but again, I am getting denied another shot. They claim my total B levels are ok. They refuse to do an active B level test.

@@zeusdagmire6185 it was a prescription, and I only took one pill per week. My normal routine since they denied the refill has been 4 caps of 2,000 IU taken after dinner. It’s absorbed better, as at dinner I generally have some kind of fat coupled with my collagen smoothie made with almond milk for the calcium. It’s just barely maintaining, and is nothing close to the relief I got from the 50,000 IU prescription I had. Vitamin D works better when taken with fat and calcium.

Thank you Dr. Berg. I watched your video on vertigo last winter. Took 5,000 IU D3 plus 500 mg K2 daily for a mth. Also took 3 cap sule oregano oil during this time, daily. 5 weeks later my vertigo disappeared. It is back. Have been taking same dose of D and K, but I had forgot the oregano oil. Consulted with dentist about vertigo and possibility of correlation to anaerobic bacteria. He stated oral bacteria would not be causation. He suggested a virus on inner ear. i cannot arrange an appointment with my GP, so I am continuing the D and K2, most days, plus taking oregano oil (4 td). I've ordered Ivermectin as well. I realize it is an anti-parasitic, but has anti-viral properties as well. Was used by a few docs during co&id, with great success. It is forbidden in Canada, so that's proof it is effective for that. My gall bladder was excised many years ago. I will obtain some bile salts as well. Much Appreciated sir.

I have been diagnosed with Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo by an Ear Nose and Throat doctor. The doc will prescribe vestibular therapy!! This can be a game changer if this is what you’re diagnosed with. It will reposition micro crystals in your inner ear. Also EMF’s can cause vertigo. The whole virus excuse is just that. They say that when they have no real answer instead of saying they don’t know.

I'm 75 years old and I have late-stage Lyme disease and co-infections and have LOTS of deficiencies. Was diagnosed well over 50 years too late (in 2015) because no doctor ever looked for the roots of my symptoms, but merely doled out the psychotropic meds. I'm unable to treat but AM taking Vitamin D/K and a number of other nutrients, including Tudca...none of which I'm absorbing due to a damaged gut.

In a lot of your videos you mentioned long walks and being in the sun but in Australia most of the day the UV rating is above 9 - 12 and would like some more understanding of the best time and how much exposure is good before it becomes dangerous. Also if you recommend covering up with a hat and sunglasses etc.

#1 is the sun, with a UVB light as backup. It's the most natural way. Also make sure to eat enough animal products. It contains some vitamin D (and a bunch of other important nutrients), but it also helps with cholesterol (which your body needs to make vitamin D from sunlight).

I took several different brands of vit. D for years. When I noticed that some brands would pass through me that is why I tried a different brand. I went to a dr. for a physical and a vit. D level was included with my blood work. My vit. D level was so far below the lowest level of normal that the dr. Placed me on a prescriptive vit D which I took for several months. When the vit D level was rechecked, I was at the lowest level of normal. I asked the dr if she would keep me on the prescriptive vit D long enough to bring me to mid-normal. She said no, but that she would prescribe a medication for bone strength that I will need to take once or twice a year ( I forget which). Then she said “be sure you don’t stop taking it or you will go down hill fast”. I looked up at her and was speechless. I could tell that she wished she had not said that. I declined the Rx.
