Super interesting to hear Alden talk on these subjects. I hear more people speaking on income inequality and the two tiered economy these days but it's still crickets compared to the fed talk on financial media. In seems the social fabric has been fraying for years. I grew up in the 70s and it was a much more optimistic time for people. One wonders just what the 'american bargain' now is for the average citizen? Work at Target or Amazon or maybe Google if you are lucky, I mean deserve to. Alden always has such great context for her ideas and opinions and I appreciate how measured she is (see Eurodollar for the opposite). She never says the sky is falling, just things like "I think people have a reason to feel jittery", "life expectancy in the US is starting to decline, that's not good" or she will reference how past episodes have played out and why they are similar or different from our current situation (see fiscal dominance). She's not pretending she can predict the future, she's trying to understand why and how things unfold and sharing what she finds. Also exhibits real humanity. Excellent.

I honestly don't understand how lynn can say the US is strong structurally but when one travels to US you witness that its citizens and businesses are in dire need of jobs and robust local supply chains/factories. Luke mentioned something that stood out towards the end of his last interview which is, since the start of Ukrain war the world got to see the GDP growth of the US over the years has just been flipping jPegs and real estate prices, which really has added nothing.

The US economy is supported by services and there are plenty of jobs in services Japan and US capital structures are very similar except in immigration profile and trade account but in hindsight both economies seem more like complimentary partners than a Rivalry, which I can't helpnto notice that sometimes the foreigners seem easily misunderstood.
