It’s in my repertoire. The problem is I can’t get through it without bursting into tears.

PETE TOWNSHEND is a musical genius. Almost everyone of his songs are great. All you need to do is listen to the lyrics. I have been listening to Pete Townshend and THE WHO since late 60s. He wrote rock operas Tommy and quadrophenia. He is the greatest song writer in rock and roll ever

A banjo uke is barely a banjo. Tuned as a ukulele, scale length and strung that way as well. The body resonance is about all the banjo there is. What a lovely tone--but I would bet anything this instrument isn't the type used on the recording we know. I suspect it's a regular ukulele. I may be wrong, but that's my take on this. One of my favorite tunes by one of my favorite artists.

THX for the education, and I agree about the tune, and artist!

Sounds pretty much like a ukulele to me.

Yeah film is mis-titled ...it's actually a 'banjolele' ...and the original was played (on 'The Who By Numbers' ) on a standard Concert uke tuned G-C-E-A . Here y'go: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqK6gWqredidhtE

Pete started on the banjo, the regular type. BRG was recorded on a uke, this is just another way to play it I guess...

ve always wondered if this song is on banjo or ukulele. It's in a pitch like a ukulele's would be in, but the strumming just has that little twang to make me say banjo. I now understand my problem.
@MrJeffschuler10 жыл бұрын
ukulele. but any instrument can do it if your good enough. check out Eddie Vedder on youtube, hes a big Pete Townshend fan. the struming is mostly down, with no pic. hey !!!
@cameroncooper417510 жыл бұрын
Pete is playing a banjolele - a mini banjo tuned to the same pitches as a ukulele. On Who By Numbers, he was playing a conventional ukulele.

Nostalgic music from the 1930s like Connie Boswell and the Boswell Sisters. The skiffle bands were quite interesting makeshifts instruments. The Poet Laureate quintessential writer philosopher highly esteemed and beloved Johann Wolfgang Goethe akin to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Cheers Sir Peter and family

That's really sad how he have a hard time singing and he realize it. He can't sing the original melody anymore. But the emotion that comes out of this banjo, (or banjolele or whatever) is intense.

This is not a banjo. Banjos have 5 strings. This is a banjolini…a ukulele with metal strings and a banjo-like body.
