I make that salad. I add sunflower seeds and sometimes raisins. So good. Yes, you can definitely make it ahead of time. I think it tastes better the next day because the flavors have combined. It's also interesting to me that many Mennonite meals are similar to Southern Baptist potluck dishes I make and grew up eating. I guess it is because we are both descendants of the Anabaptists.

When you make the pie crust - roll out a second and cut into strips - lay strips on baking sheet and dust with sugar and cinnamon. I promise you that your kiddos will LOVE the dough strips! I'm 70 now and have been eating the 'left over pie crust strips' for at least 65 years :) This is a perfect way to make your children pie-loving kids! Bless you and your family.

YUM!!! All delish!! Thanks for sharing! Just a kind tip (from a Mom of 2 boys & now grandchildren): Please turn your pot handles to the back of the stove burner, this way you won't bump it and cause the pot to spill or one of the children accidentally reaches for it. Can't wait for the next video you share.

Funny, I saw that too. My mom taught me to always turn pot handles away from the front. I'm the oldest daughter in a family of 9 children so there was plenty of chance for accidents!

On your jello salad. I work in dietary at our local hospital. And I make something like that. We call it frog salad. I make the jello and let it set up in a 9x13 pan. After the jello sets up I put everything in the stand mixer. Softened cream cheese and the jello and mix it starting out slow then switch it to med high then high. Blend well then add the cool whip and you can add crushed pineapple or mandarin oranges. Blend well! Then put it in a 9x 13 and put in the freg. Until it sets up then slice like you do a cake. Looks a lot like what you made! I enjoyed your video 🙂

I worked in dietary at a hospital years ago and we made different things with Jell-O. One super simple thing we did was mix canned pears with whatever flavor of Jell-O we had. Sometimes lime and sometimes cherry or strawberry. I loved them. I like tart things so I would make them at home and drain and rinse the pears and mix a packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid mix with it. I added a little salt for an extra zing. Weird but was tasty and helped if I craved sour candy. Thanks for your videos. I love that you have several different recipes that don't necessarily go together to make one meal. The chicken noodles look divine!! Definitely going to have to try them.

My best friends mom always made peanut butter pie when we were growing up! The years since she’s passed on, nobody can make her peanut butter pie like she did...I know they aren’t hard to make, but they just never taste the same as hers! I have a pudding recipe from my Grandma that always made pies & her specialty & my favorite was Banana Cream pie! The pudding was always so rich! Now I need to dig out my recipe book with her recipes & make a pie!! On the broccoli/cauliflower salad, I always mix in the dressing to let the flavors merry together & just before serving, we add sunflower seeds! That’s my favorite summer salad!! I like your variety of foods you make in your videos!! Yum!!

I had one of those baby food grinder, loved it. I never bought baby food made my own. Used blender and put things in an ice cube tray after they were frozen popped them out in a freezer container and the warmed up the food using a egg poacher or if it was fruit would let it thaw. Fortunately none of the children had food allergies.

My mom made that peanut butter pie when I was a kid and I loved it. I still request it for my birthday. She makes the cook and serve box pudding in hers.

Love your cooking videos. Love all your videos. My husband makes a broccoli salad almost just like yours minus the cauliflower. He adds sunflower seeds sometimes and dried cranberries. I make a hashbrown casserole that is exactly like your only I don't precook the "sauce". Just stir it all together and bake. O, I don't use Velveeta cheese. Shredded cheddar. I think I once told you that I grew up in northern Indiana surrounded by Amish and Mennonite. I never had the opportunity to talk to any of them as I had heard they don't typically like to talk to "Englishers". I watch Adaline Zooks videos all the time and had wondered if she was somehow from or married to an Amish or Mennonite due to her last name. I enjoy watching her videos too. Thanks for all you do. I'm going to have to try that peanut butter pie!

Lynette...should there be any peanutbutter in the pudding part of the peanutbutter pie? Fir 30 years I lived near Arthur, Il which had a large population of Amish and Mennonites. Such good cooks! We loved driving over to their store/bakery for bread, jams fresh eggs and summer produce. They also had a general store...such great things and fabric galore....we always said...if you couldn't find the fabric there that you were looking for...it didn't exist! It was so calm and peaceful to drive thru the country and see a simple lifestyle...I know they work hard though. Thanks for sharing so many recipes. 💐

You could try that! I’ve never had any in it whenever I eat the typical peanut butter pie!

I have eaten broccoli salad before with raisins and sunflower kernels. It was delicious. I've never made it though. Your pie crust looked great! I've been cooking for 50 years and my pie crusts aren't blue ribbon winners either...but they sure do taste good.

This is coming from 100% kindness. In this video you look like you need rest, iron (spinach or red meat) and some sunshine. I know that’s hard to do with 3 little kids, but please take care of yourself. I know how hard it is to think of ourselves when we have a busy family. Prayers coming your way💜

😄 thanks. 🙈 I always feel like the camera shows me a lot whiter than I actually am. I probably was tired because Nic was gone overnight while I filmed a lot of this. 😄 so I know I was tired. But I had some deadlines and sometimes you gotta do whatcha gotta do, right?

Lynette Yoder it was your eyes. My youngest is 8 now, but I remember how heavy my eyes felt with babies. I am great at taking care of everyone else, and not so much myself. You strike me as the type to work very hard as well.

I really enjoy your videos. My hometown has a Mennonite community, and it is really interesting to me how much of these recipes I grew up eating.
