If there is one thing Victoria is unapologetic for, it’s choosing to follow her heart and love who she loves. She knows too well how it feels to marry someone you are not compatible with. She also knows all too well how it feels to marry someone who gets her heart.
On this episode of LNS, she walks us through the tough choices she had to make and why in life, one should never conform

What I love about this is that she didn’t leave her ex husband for being toxic, cheating or violent (like most people usually ask) but because they were not compatible. Also they had communication problems, why force someone who clearly isn’t into the marriage. It doesn’t matter what the reason is. If you are not happy just leave the marriage. Don’t die trying to make the society happy. We only live once, make your life worth living .. waking everyday feeling happy is such a luxury 🥰🥰🥰

This story is very easy for me to understand, she got married to the Kenyan man because she was going abroad though there were compatibility issues. He was enjoying the financial support she was giving but he was not supportive of her dream. She knew in her mind the marriage was just on the paper. She is accomplished so she does not need a man to support her, the fact that she got one along the way is a good thing. Ladies get a man who is supportive of your dreams. It seems she has both.

True. Most African men are insecure of a woman with a strong mind or principles bcoz they feel undermined or not having enough authority over her. They want a woman who follows their orders without questions. The few who accept it are called "weaklings" or they have been sat on but they don't care as long as they are happy.

Listening at this beautiful Kenyan woman with exceptional narrating skills one can't help but admire the parenting skills some children gets exposed to. "Because I don't like makeup....", is there any lady listening out there? It's rare to find a simple, beautiful and intentional natural skin woman telling her story in a composed demeanour and masterly of English. I wish today's generation can listen to Victoria in meaning and intention. Men look for such ladies for marriage. Ladies, learn something about the secrets of "What men really want in a woman...." These are the two expectations from men-Natural beauty and exceptional humility. Victoria is visionary and a personal with values and value to bring to the marriage @50-50% that where that marriage fails, property can easily be awarded at fifty-fifty. Don't bring nothing to the table and expect everything or half contribution. Victorias are rare today. Thanks Lynn for this show and by the way you look exclusively beautiful and smart in that outfit👏.

I don't think people understand that in a lot of African homes, we are devoid of affection. And sometimes (but not all the time) we are also devoid of love. When you're out there in the world and strangers don't shy away from telling you they love you and appreciate you, it changes your whole perspective of life and love. And then you realize that it's normal for them and that's how they communicated with their family growing up. I personally would love that for my children, African as they may be. And so should you.

Thank both for the inclusiveness. Understanding that this is a Kenyan show it shouldn’t be assumed that all supporters of the LNS platform are from Kenya and or speak Swahili. It makes it hard to follow the stories when the guests switch languages right in the middle of the narrative.

I feel that just isolating "God hates divorce" is not right and simplistic! We already make mistakes in deciding whom we marry before we know them well enough. Let us not blame God for our own mistakes. And let us ask God for wisdom !

I'm in swaziland 🇸🇿 and I'm very happy to see such an amazing nd strong lady...your happiness comes first ....if doesn't save u just let it go....if u not at peace just choose u..not even what our parents used to say..they are staying in an abusive marriage just for the kids but truth of th matter is u teaching your kids tht it's OK to be abused...so I just love this lady she really stood up for her self no matter what the society is say..coz at th end of th day u matter nd u come first...I really wish to share my story one day with u.....God bless u all for th wonderful job....

My take is again self-awareness! She rushed into this thing called marriage per where she was, and the expectations of her society. ( African standards). Then she happens to travel out of the environment/country, discovered herself as she got exposed to "there's more to our local standards, and it's ok to be happy and want the best for yourself." Even when you don't get to travel outside, take time to discover you, your potentials, and what you like/love, what you don't like, what makes you happy, your dreams. Take time to be with you, date you, love you, heal you, and build you especially mentally and if possible physically before extending to the other person. Let it be your choices and decisions and not circumstances, beliefs, and society expectations.🤷‍♀️ And ofcourse GOD being at the front and center of it All, the Source!

Lynn - the Bible is very specific "alichokiunganisha Mungu, mwanadamu asikitenganishe". Swali ni kwamba are you sure ni Mungu ndiye aliyewaunganisha? Mnapotafuta mchumba na kufunga ndoa you don't consult God, then kikiumana mnasema ni Mungu aliwaunganisha! Ukweli ni kwamba mlijiunganisha wenyewe sio Mungu. Naamini talaka sio sahihi kwa waliounganishwa na Mungu, meaning Mungu akuthibitishie huyo ndio mwenzi wako kabla hamjafunga ndoa. Kuna njia nyingi za kuwasiliana na Mungu. Mpe Mungu nafasi kwenye maisha yako.

I think Kenyans in general have a completely distorted view of dating hence getting themselves tangled in marriage with a wrong person. Dating should be a period where you get to spend short periods of time with 2 to 3 people with the intent of going steady with one of them. At this stage they are not your boyfriend, it's an interview/ elimination process, so no commitment, no physical relations, just observation and lots of questions for several months to a year. This will help you determine the compatibility question too. Once you find the most suitable mate at that point you can decide to get to know each other with the intent of marriage; I would advise seeking counseling even if you are not engaged, group dates with like couples, get an older married couple as mentors, this is not the time to act like you are married but to be more thorough in your investigation coz it's down to the wire. Fo you support each other's goals? Ask the tough questions- What if you don't get kids- how would you react? What if you got disabled? What if one person was transferred to a different city or country for work? If you both agree then you can proceed to the next step... because marriage is a daily commitment for better or for worse.( Except any abuse- Walk away) Remember your happiness is not contingent on the other person. If you are not happy all by yourself - Quit dating and work on yourself first.

Go on talking my dear, it's a good therapy. When I lost my son at 27 years after graduating as a doctor, I used to pick his story at any point of conversation even where didn't fit. At one point my daughter told me that talking about my late son is my therapy. Whenever I talk about it I felt is like a burden shared. Talk, talk until it's more comes in. Healing is gradual and different steps. It's had to forget but pain and tears gets lesser and lesser. Take it easy one day at a time.

Does it mean the man had to leave his business in Nairobi to follow her to Belgium so that their interests could align 😅😅😅that means she wanted to force the husband to fit within her interests without caring for his interests. Marriage is about compromising for each other and finding neutral ground for the as you chase individual interests. It's not given that you will get a partner who has same interest as you, love is what binds you, and also giving each other free space to thrive in their interests.
