I listen to a variety of different music, mainly rock and roll and blues, and in the end this is the one band I always come back to because they're the perfect rock band, everything you need and nothing you don't. Ronnie was not only a great singer, he was also a very talented songwriter and one of the best frontmen cause he didn't have to jump around on stage yet had a very strong presence. They had not 1, not 2, but three kickass guitar players that each had their own distinctive style and sound. They had a piano player that was a madman, somewhere between Mozart and Jerry Lee Lewis. Truly great American music!

These dudes were ON that night. Im a musician and i can see everything going on here in snaps of fingers. Steve had some real soul to his playing, a lot of blues licks in these fills. Just flawless playing and a lot of improv playing. Its also fun to watch Ronnie look at Steve’s playing and be in tune with it, that’s a connection only a musician can understand. Been there many times on stage.

Steve Gaines is just lights out. Unbelievably great player. One of those guys who had a entirely unique way of making a guitar sound. For me, only a handful of guitar players really make a guitar sound like nobody else. Their sound is so distinct that you know it is them playing within a few notes...instantly, really. Steve is in that category for me. An all-time type of talent, and it is a GOD DAMN shame that he never got to flourish. How I wish for more from him...

It seemed like every time I got my 1972 Barracuda on the highway, and that car would hit 3rd gear final drive this song would come on the radio,1981 or 82,some I just started by one cassette after another I didn't get them all but it sure was the sound track for American kids grown up north or south, like the Allman brothers drive up and down the highway to Florida a lot the eagles,Molly hatchet and Deep PURPLE....never too much guitar,I even got one my self and started learning to play it just to do a solo gig, because finding a band that wanted to commit to music and work at it seemed impossible, not finding the style influences that match more stupid fighting, make it first then fight all u want but the music comes first....piece out thanks.

Kellie Nicole Brooks Schettino I’ve never owned an automatic, even now I’m driving a 2002 Merc Cougar 5-speed with 6-CD player and let me tell you the stereo sound is better than any vehicle I’ve been in. I crank up the tunes and the whole neighborhood looks . Lol When I had my ‘82 Camaro it was a 3-speed with sunroof. My ‘67 Firebird was a 4-speed. AND I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd in person in ‘76. Plus blessed to see so many other artists in person, Black Oak Arkansas, Uriah Heap, Leonard Cohen, AC/DC twice, Mott the Hoople, oh man I could go on and on. Thanks for inspiring me to write this.

I remember when I was a youngster in Skynyrd were putting out some really good music. But I was a dead head so I would listen when my friends had them on! But when I got older. I started to listen to the lyrics and the music was great. And I would play them on guitar and listen to them when ever I could. Great Band. Unfortunately most of them died from liquor bottles hitting them in the head in a bad plane crash!!! What a shame man!!!!!!!!

Sandra McCoy - I totally agree with you. Just seen this video for the first time. Sheer musical brilliance ! I wish I had known years ago how great Lynyrd Skynyrd were - I would have gone to see them at Knebworth in the 70's. I only discovered them through KZbin videos a few years ago. What a fantastic band they were , listening to videos like this always makes my day !
