Hey everyone! Initially, I had trouble getting the outro solo down. I spent so much time tabbing the song and creating the backing track that I neglected actually practicing. When I started playing the solo, my fingertips were too soft to hold the bends for any more than a couple of measures. To toughen my fingertips again, I practiced bending on an Acoustic guitar with 13 gauge strings. SRV would approve I'm sure. When I returned to playing this solo, it was much easier! Lesson learned and note to self - keep practicing as you are tabbing. I have double tracked the lead guitars in this to give the classic sound. The only difference is that I didn't stray from the guitar that I heard in the right speaker from listening to the recording. So I made it one tab and decided not to overcomplicate things. Really enjoyed working on this song and I hope you have fun learning it!

I think what people forget about this song when performing it live is that the greatness of the solo depends upon the tightness of all the other instruments. The drums have got a real job to do, not just pace wise but keeping the tempo of everyone in line, the bass has got to be flying about too, I mean its an insane bass line, and the keys and other guitarists have to be so on point. It's the wall of sound created by all of it together that makes the solo truly explode.

This was note for note perfection. Lots of players think this song is easy because it is sort of a collection of basic blues riffs but the timing is what makes it difficult. The solos are cool but the rhythm transcriptions are where the real learning happened for me. Then, i Did your little wing-which i knew sorta-now i know im playing it the way jimi did including the incredible rhythm parts which i never bothered to learn and, again, that,s where my playing really improved. Relearning some country stuff right now from jason loughlin’s truefire course called country connections-highly recco it-then, i’ll come back to this freebird transcription…the solos are basically textbook uptempo rock lead playing and something i’ve always wanted to learn. And your transcriptions are the absolute best on the ‘tube. I wish you’d include the standard notation too cuz it’s cool to use great tabs and notation together! But dude- i love your tabs and seeing you execute the stuff so cleanly and in perfect time is really inspiring. 🙏👊👍
