I have listened to Skynyrd for 41 years and I think the originals are the best period. You believe what you like that's your choice.

gosh I read some real dumb shit, yes the current band is not the original but what is the alternative we all go to a concert and watch a video The 1970's are 40 years ago. The younger audience were not alive when Skynrd started. Be grateful someone cares enough to keep this music alive and that there is an audience that cares.

I feel sorry for the people who see Lynyrd Skynyrd today...go back and look at the Asbury Park video and how Allen Collins and Steve Gaines played this song. 20 times better than this...We miss you guys!

This is more of a cover band now, With Gary Rossington being the only original member left in the band. Skynyrd really died when the plane went down, anything after has been a poor attempt to bottle lightning again.

PJ York and as far as the best version you are so very wrong, the best was with Ronnie, Steve Gaines, Allen Collins, Gary Rossington, Artimus Pyle, Leon Wilkeson, and Billy Powell, throw in Ed King and the Honkettes and you have the REAL Lynyrd Skynyrd not the pseudo Skynyrd you have now...

Great show, standing in the middle right at the front.When Johnny threw the MIC/ FLAG he nearly took Rickys Head off. They had a laugh about it, but it was close.

Gary Rossington said they were a tribute band. Basically a cover band and he's a founding member so all you who want to argue with that statement take it up with him.

I'm going to jump in here on this topic, first off, I think the current line up is great, have seem them every year sence they got back together and it gets better every time, also, you guys need to do some research, Gary is not the only original member, if you guys will look way back to the beginning, Ricky was the very FIRST drummer for Skynyrd, although brief he was an original member when they first put the band together.

Mark Neely I don't think Ricky is considered an original member, that was way before Skynyrd ever became famous, so Rickey is not an original member, it may have been brief, but he wasn't in the band long enough to be considered an original member. Sorry.

I agree with what gary rossington said this is a cover band of the real lynyrd skynyrd and its not bad but not as good as the real skynyrd from the 70s.sure with he would at least get artimus pyle back on drums and maybe ed king can sit in once and a while since hes retired and had a heart transplant.also randall hall was a good player too played freebird pretty well.
