“Probably Gary will be the only one left standing” that’s crazy to hear Billy say that. Last original member gone. What a sad story. Never stops being sad. Incredible. Unbelievably talented band. Allen doesn’t get nearly enough credit for how talented of a guitar player he actually was.

The most loyal and dedicated fans of any entertainers. We don't "like" Skynyrd or even just love them. They are part of your life when you get ready to listen to music and you start off with Lynyrd Skynyrd that's as far as you get because once you start you just can't turn it off because there's just so many outstanding tunes to listen to or watch some of the live concerts. Gene Odom said right before the plane crash that Ronnie was going to fire Gary. That’s the first time I’ve ever heard that and find it hard to believe. Gene Odom seems to have an agenda for Gary for some reason. Maybe he was jealous of RVZ’s relationship with Gary. He certainly trashes him every chance he gets. Gary seemed like the nicest guy and was certainly a fantastic guitar player. Maybe now that Gary has joined the band up there, Gene will stop making money off of the Lynyrd Skynyrd name.

@@pewsterbaby My thoughts exactly. Gene Odom originally wouldn’t say who he says he was told by Ronnie that he was going to fire someone. Now that Gary is gone, he comes out with this. He even dumps on Gary’s solo albums, pretty much saying they are crap. I’ve been a Skynyrd fan since “Pronounced” was first released and believe they would not have been Skynyrd without Ronnie’s lifelong friend , Gary Rossington. Now that they are all together up there, maybe Gene should respect them all and let them R.I.P. Free Birds, each and every one of them.

I am deeply saddened with the parting of the last original member of one of my favorite music bands EVER. My mother played Classical music to me in the womb back in ‘61. I like and appreciate the genius that is “Classical Music”, but my dear mother was saddened that it wasn’t my favorite. But the term Classic did make an impression………..Lynyrd Skynyrd is the “Classic” and the standard of Southern Rock. I saw this great band in ‘77 and swore I wouldn’t see them ever again. Now that’s true. Every time I play a tune I will be hearing a jam in Heaven. Lynyrd Skynyrd is “free as a Bird now”. Rock on to all my fellow Skynyrd fan brothers and sisters. To my friends who have passed and loved Skynyrd too, let me know how the concert was……………………..yeeeeehawwwwww!

Saw this incredible band twice. First time in San Francisco way back when they first started. The Grateful Dead was supposed to play, but they cancelled and Skynyrd took the stage. What a treat! Second time was in Chico Cal., I believe in 1975 or 1976. We were right up front when my friend ended up passing out due to some heavy drinking and the band staff came out grabbed him and took him in the back room. When the show was over a friend and myself went in the back to get our buddy to drive him home. Met some of the guys in the band, but to this day I forget who they were except do remember seeing Ronnie Van Zandt. I was only 18 and intimidated by everything that was happening. What a band! They were the best!

He said to me, "Do you believe in God?" before he fell over so I think he tried to kill me. Luckily I spilled most of the cup of beer or I would have overdosed to death point levels. Only him, Ronnie and Allen are from 904, and Artimus was from SC? Look at the change of album covers for Street Survivors, incredibly obvious planning. Read Washington Post article couple days after plane has engine fire running out of fuel in perfect place for propaganda, and giant album released? So much to say now...lol. Robert E Lee High School? @@michaelcochran1737 I agree. One of the most unique also, along with AC/DC, because of both being the only bands I can think of that lost lead singers (few years apart) and the bands had such good musicians and reputation that they could successfully replace singers and stay at top of charts and industry. This gives two witnesses to the similar kind of changes both bands went through. Both deaths made a big impact on my generation turning 18 years old around 1980. I haven't looked into any relationship Ronnie and Bon Scott had, if any. Gary would know.

How prophetic that Billy said Gary would be the last one standing.

@@DrinkMyGin yes, but I saw tickets sold for Artimus shows like he is still performing this month, I'm going looking for pictures when got time to see if pictures of Artimus still alive are posted online from shows. Concert Websites acted strange not allowing me to buy tickets for show, but asking if I liked it and can post pictures from it.
