Lynyrd Skynyrd was an awesome band. They were incredible live! I went to 6 of there concerts. Including the very last one in Pittsburgh. That smell is a killer track. Just keep the Skynyrd coming! A suggestion "Mr. Saturday Night Special" another killer track. Thank you, have a great day!

The song was aimed at TWO members, Allen Collins and Gary Rossington, due to both having had car accidents while recording the Street Survivors album. ("Whiskey bottles and brand new cars/Oak Tree you're in my way" was referring to Allen Collins and "Now they call you Prince Charming/Can't speak a word when you're full of Ludes" referring to Rossington.) Rossington learned his lesson, but sadly Collins didn't, ending up paralyzed in a 1986 car accident which killed his girlfriend at the time...he lost a battle with pneumonia in January of 1990.

Great reaction to a great song. That band had three guitarists and, as a former pro guitar player, I can confirm all three could absolutely shred a guitar.

Not a problem but Skynyrd my favorite band ever. Talk abt lead guitarist Allen Collins, when he was in his 1st band The Mods, he never wanted to play lead at all, he wanted to strictly play rthymn guitar. Talk abt what a waste that would have been! They had that 3 guitar army with such amazing sound, esp Gary & Allen, they knew each other so well because they basically learned together, part of what made them so tight, then you add Ed King to the mix. It was magic. After Ed left, so amazing they found Steve Gaines, yet another great guitar player. I love them all. They all had a different sound & style. I know modt people have a favorite but for me, too hard to pick. Thankfully we don't really have to because they were all in 1 band.

The smell is death. Ronnie wrote this after a band member had an accident. Ronnie though had a premonition he would die young and wrote this song.

Greetings from San Diego😊, Lynyrd Skynyrd is the patriarch of Southern Rock. They blazed a trail in that genre for many bands from Florida, and most of them from Skynyrd's hometown of Jacksonville. Those would be, The Allman Brothers, .38 Special, Blackfoot, and Molly Hatchet.

I’ve picked up one thing for sure Bre! You love those guitar solo’s!! 😂. I’m right on board with you! 🙌. The Freebird solo is one of my favorite of all time! They are great! As far as the movie Blow which is awesome, there is a kick butt song playing in the airport scene with Johnny Depp walking through the airport with a suitcase and 1.3 mil in it. That song stuck with me but as of the past 6 months that song has become almost Iconic everywhere I look!! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🔥😂. I think partly because the bands official music video is done in one of their backyards and just looks awesome. I still don’t know the true meaning of the song but it’s called “ *Black Betty* “ by *Ram Jam* it’s only about 2:24 seconds. It has 150 mil views and I’ve noticed grows by about 1 million a week it’s like a “Trend” lol. I’ll leave the link. It’s a hot reaction right now but even if you don’t react I highly suggest you watch it! 😂🎧🔥🎸😎🙌🙏. I’ll put the link under this in a second. Classic! Thanks Bre!! 😎😂

Some really great Skynyrd songs are Freebird, Simple Man, Tuesday’s Gone With The Wind, Sweet Home Alabama, Give Me Three Steps just to name a few. Oddly Metallica did an AMAZING live version of Tuesday’s Gone with some friends.

The band's name came from a teacher they had that didn't like their long hair. The teacher is buried not far from where one of the band members is buried. Also, I liked this song in particular because I used it to pull a prank on my dad which had my mother cracking up laughing.

Ronnie wrote this song after Gary Rosington got strung out on drugs and wrecked his car and it made Ronnie mad so he wrote this song to let him know if he kept it up it was going to kill him

Gary got pretty banged up in that wreck. They had to postpone a recording session and part of a tour to allow him to recover, which cost them some coin.

So sad because all these guys were heavy drug & alcohol users, it's was the 70's so... They had so many near misses, Allen & Gary "Prince Charming " wrecking cars every other wk it seemed. Ronnie had been addicted to heroin, got off it but replaced with Jack Daniel's & cochise. A few of the guys heavy acid use lead to a few times of humping out 2nd story windows etc. But after the latest accident, Ronnie knew they needed to clean up their act before the smelll of death got them. Some of them got married, Ronnie was having his 2nd child so they made a real effort to get clean & sober, obviously it was a process but they were headed in right direction. Steve Gaines joined the band to re-form the 3 guitar army & he was a good influence as well. Ronnie took up weights & swimming. They were serving soda & juices instead of alcohol & with release of Street Survivors the sky was the limit, 3 days later 2 band members, back up singer, roadie & pilots were killed. Seemed so unfair & still does
