One thing I love about Johnny is that he has his own vocal style. He never tried to imitate big brother Ronnie.

Well, people have to do something for a living, don't they? No grudge there, but this is no more than a glorified tribute band playing oldies no matter who the personnel are. Back in the day, the music was fresh and the personnel were the originators. That cannot be replicated. This group is selling tickets and having fun, and if the fans like it go ahead and have at it. Honestly though, there is nothing of interest there for me and "don't let the door hit you in the ass" about covers it BTW, everything above goes for the Allman Bros as well.

They seem like a tribute band... I don't think so, there were Gary and Billy. And Johnny did the best thing to do!

@bflo1000 And you guys forgot Ricky Medlocke who is Allen Collins successor was a studio drummer in the early 1970’s playing on Comin Home and other tracks.

Ricky sang lead on some of Skynards early stuff. My favorite is White Dove.

@bflo1000 Rickey played w/them & did lead vocals on some songs. They recorded at Muscle Shoals 71-72. When whoever recorded them, they ended up taping on wrong side of tape. IDK much abt how, I did it 1 time long ago on a 10" reel to reel tape deck. It was my boyfriends (now husband) & he had just moved in with me, he only showed me one time then had to go out of town, I had party & when I threaded the tape somehow I fed it in wrong side, so sounded like they were in a cave. I was young & had no experience with it. I don't understand how this could have happened but they were shopping around for label to sign them. IDK how they could have listened to it & not known it was recorded wrong! After a bunch of rejections, and comments like this sucks they listened & figured it out. Pronunced came out in 73 & not sure exactly when they recorded stuff @ Muscle Shoals, they went through some member changes & shortly after is when Al Cooper heard them in a club. I heard Radio interview with RVZ where he told story & stuck wme. I hever hear anyone talk abt it. Sorry such long comment, just always made me wonder, if they would have signed in 71-72 would things have been the same, would plane crash still happened. BTW, Steve Gaines sings vocals on Ain't No Good Life a song he had written before he joined them. Steve had a strong voice. He & Ronnie traded vocals on a few other songs as well.

It'S just not the same with this drummer. You cannot copy Arties swingy-rock style. Ronnies brother also has just a bad voice compared to Ronnie. Ronnie always sang very quiet and put the mic on full volume. Sadly that this song has no swing at all :(
@lloydsharpe76414 жыл бұрын
Sorry Johnny but you shouldn't have to tune the guitars down a half step to sing that song, plus it doesn't sound the same.
