The vending/amusement co I worked for from 85-99 in NH had mid-1970s Rock-Ola "coffin" jukeboxes out behind the kitchen with the selector box in every booth at all the Papa Gino's restaurants in NH. Employees would stack bags of pizza dough flour on the coffins out back, always was a mess trying to first get it open then there was always flour inside. Outside of occasional coin jams the booth selector units were very reliable.

Great video, always amazed juke boxes, pinball machine, pac man machine, you can fix it all. Did you guys add the records or it come with them? Comet is running good. Thanks for filming see you on next video.

Your Comet video is coming up soon :) We added the records, we pick them up in big boxes a lot just so when we sell them they're full and people can swap out the ones they don't want to keep in there.

Great video, I learned a lot, I have a rock-ola 445 and I watched your video a year out two back where you service that model. Mine still works ok but I’m sure a service would help it along so I’ll be looking for a service manual and have a go at it thanks very much 👍😀

If the bearings in the motor are dry, it will cause the motor to run slower. I hope no one has WD40's the mech... That stuff is EVIL. Was great to see a Jukebox again. It's been a while since we saw a Jukebox video

What is that replacement part number for the end of stroke that you used for the home snap switch?
@vela1492 Жыл бұрын
Great video! I have the same machine here, and had a nagging issue which looks fixed now. The problem was the read-out side not resetting the selector pin. It was intermittent - sometimes it would reset, sometimes I would see the arm attached to the solenoid 'twitch' like it got partial power. Most times I got nothing. After cleaning everything in that circuit path except micro #2, it still had those issues. Not expecting any good result, I sprayed contact cleaner on top of the micro switches... and it worked! The selector pins reset every time now. Somehow the contact cleaner made its way into the switch. My question to you is, can those micro switches be opened up and cleaned properly, or are the guts completely inaccessible? Still have to replace all the electrolytic caps in the thing, and get the needle to sit properly on the record. It will get done :)

Interesting, I haven't seen the home switch done like that before. On the 70s Rock-Ola machines I've worked on, it's not an external switch like that, it was a wiper trace on the readout disc, presumably a later modification to simplify the mech a bit. Still a common fault though, the wipers and contact traces get dirty, but an easy fix with some contact cleaner and a cloth.

I knew that guy was trying to scam me years ago. I had the exact model back in 2009 and mine was a little sluggish and wouldn't bring the record back and would get stuck. He told me it was $100 a hour and he would have to tear it all down and rebuild the whole thing. He said it would take about 6 hours to do the job as well. This quote was given over the phone too😂 without him even looking at the jukebox.😢 I just hung on to jer as long as I could and just was plugged in so it was always lit up for looks. Mine still looked fairly new also. Wish I would have never got rid of her now. I did keep over 200 records though.
@glenpitts681310 ай бұрын
When you repeatedly renove the platter, you ate making no mention of the ball bearing that is in the platter well. The manual does not make any reference to this, but it is there.
