Your attitude is very genuine. This looks like a perfect way for me to improve my mediocre boxing skills and integrate it into some of the other arts I practice. That pivot move at the end was sweet.

I think if most boxers were to learn the great art of 52 they can really increase they're defense game because what I think is that 52 is more of a defensive art there's so many blocks that are pretty effective I think that 52 is very effective in a street fight salute to lyte burly for doing his thing

the one thing I noticed is that the boxer has a hard time against Lyte because he is constantly changing footing, hand position, and striking strategy. the other dude can't get a gage on him, but Lyte has his number after first and making him fight his fight.

i hear what your saying but nak had skills but the vids show the greatest aspect of 52 which is defense and how to train it the moves are meant to fit the situation so when you see the hand move its meant as fakes to throw off your opponent before you attack not to waste energy but if you try to use 52 in this manner almost dancing with it you could run of energy but since 52 is defense thats what the vids center on the offense is something you must train punching or kicking grabbing

Seems like a lot of the more intricate hand movements get clunkier when the big 16oz gloves are used, especially stuff that (to me at least) seems geared toward setting up takedowns or throws. that said though, I dig the style and I like how all the participants in these sparring videos seems to be having fun, it's not ego driven BS.

The fact that it still seems to work despite the gloves getting in the way speaks volumes to me. I know how much gloves or headgear or whatever would change the dynamic of techniques, and 52 is extremely swift and precise. Still seems to work though to a decent enough degree.

As to the uppercut in 8:11 that is similar to a tactic used by Jake Lamotta to crowd or tie up a boxers arms and keep him on the outside or occupied before picking your shots or swarming in. The old talents use to punch to the arm all the time until boxing got all sissified. That was a perfect spin around I'm surprised you got him on the pivot shot.

Another good video my brotha. Haven't seen too many brothas today that can rock the Science with efficiency. I got a question for you king...is there any plans on brothas from across the country coming together to share what they know of the Science ? There are versions of this up and down the East Coast , Mid West and West Coast. I'm 41 soon to be 42 so I came up during that generation. I think our generation and older are the last to obtain this knowledge. I think it would be kool to create a official 52 blocks/Jailhouse Rock Organisation to help keep this African American (with Biafran /Bantu origins) alive and well when we're to old to pass it on to the next generations.

I want to give my thoughts. The elbows for blocks are great! I learned years ago when doing a boxing cover if you turn to the proper angle you can let the hat hit the elbow. I learned boxing in the streets no gloves. Two things that concern me. One, as a kicker I firmly believe I would pick up quickly on the way you lower your head for low jabs and seemingly defensive maneuvers, and I’d kick to the head while down. I have seen this work many times. If there is no kick I believe it’s not terrible but you also leave yourself open for a tackle. All in all I respect it and appreciate the street culture in the art. Growing up in the streets myself it is refreshing. Take care.

yes there are always openings.. the thing is to adapt to the fighter so it's really hard to watch video's and see the openings cause when you in there it's adaption but you are right if I duck down and stay there I could be kicked in the head.its a good thing I kick and punch and wrestle back so that keeps my opponent honest
@instructorlex8273
@instructorlex8273 5 жыл бұрын
52blocksinfo 52blocksinfo I respect that. Of course there are always openings. We all chose a way to deal with those. Let me start by saying I have modestly adapted my own version of your skull and bones. I respect what you do. My comment wasn’t to cut you down, just to say as a fighter, I would look to exploit this a great deal. Of course if you knew I was a kicker you would have the opportunity to adapt and in this particular sparring session you have no reason to fear The Knick I assume. Please see this combination I uploaded moments ago for you to see, I have respectfully added the skull and bones technique at the end of my combination, Originally I have done this as an elbow strike but made a slight modification of the rear hand to leave an option to use it with the concept of your skull and bones technique. This is done in a respectful manner and I do not intend to know the technique as you would teach it, I have just adapted the concept and basic movement. Enjoy! kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2mriJeaisStpLs Please continue to post as I respect your system and what you do and I think it is important that systems like yours are active. I too teach and practice something unorthodox and believe in its importance in today’s martial arts realm!

Question, I have used a front shin kick on a boxer as he has to be within arm distance to strike you. As a boxer steps and drags this feet. The front shin kick will always reach the boxer front leg. This takes his mind off protecting his face as he will start to protect his shin. Just food for thought. Good video, please keep them coming.

Remember Ninjas came to fight off the samurai, and win chung to fight off other kung fu systems. In these days in times that culture appears to be so dignified but in the time it was surrounded by contradiction and corruption. Still there was a certain code that survived. The same thing applies to 52 blocks.

African Americans HAVING culture and African Americans KNOWING THEY HAVE THAT CULTURE are two totally different things. As a grown man, having had the oppurtunity to attend college and taking upon myself to further delve into African History, yes, I know we HAVE culture as a people but experience has taught me that a lot of us DON'T KNOW. I was going to say you over-extended on that windmill punch at 5:45 surprised he didn't try to punch down or throw a low hook. Otherwise good blocking and footwork though. The Philly Shell looks risky if you don't have good weave and pivot stepping, but it looks surprisingly similar to a tactic in Tae Kwon Do/Tang Soo Do.

I admit when I first saw the 52 I was almost racially biased to it. Like "oh a fighting culture Bourne from prison gangsters on a hip hop rhythm, doesn't sound very respectable." But as a man you have wonderful insights, genuine and intelligent fighting theories and sound like a truly respectable and masterful practitioner. As a current wing chun student (former boxer) I should have been more open to your style from day 1 because it's wonderfully practical and your ideas have already improved my sparring by reevaluating my own fighting ideas. Thanks man, god bless!

yo, lyte this probably was one of your better video (will check round 3-5 out). this is what 52 needs. while the two camps are fighting about "who got the real", the. other martial schools are mocking the whole art. Fuk all the verbal talk, box it out in the ring and move on to peace. you can not show me a school of MA that does not have two schools in debate or the origin and principles of the art. I would love to see both camps in a ring 52 vs 52, let the people see who the best is.

not every punch is meant to land,your right uppercutting from long range is not advised unless you know what your doing,thats what i call the TRAP,if he would have tried to counter the long uppercut the left hook would have hit him as he enters,fighting is mental an you have to let your opponent believe there is a opening so he wants to come in,but thanks for watching,an commenting

What I am starting to understand that if anytype and form of martial arts was used as defense. Correct me if I am wrong 52 is an art of defense. It was created and being used as an art of battle. Regardless of what any of you are saying none of you who think your a martial art expert are right. Isn't the art of martial arts the art of learning more than one way to fight and defend yourself? I mean if you all are going to be "masters" master it all. And I am a female I understand this.
