I actually went and bought a kit being as in Australia it's cheaper then buying a raspberry pi and setting up ambilight in our current climate. Unfortunately I recieved a dud! Set up out of the box and lights flashed when first plugged in and turned on but nothing after that, app works and responds as if it should be working, tried everything also tried reaching out to light-mi and was told it was my fault I damaged the lights.... Since they refused to help I investigated some more pulling back the heat shrink around the connection to the lights from the usb and found very poor soldering and a short between 2 wires. As I have not seen any posts or reviews of this kind im sure the average consumers are not receiving any where near the same quality as those receiving "free to test" models. Wasn't sure where else I could try bring awareness to this issue so apologies in advance Cheers

I've just bought one of these direct from the manufacture. Cost £82 delivered. I'm using it with a Sky Q box in the UK. Works a charm. The only thing I can't get to work is Google integration. It keeps asking me for a password with the Smart Home and I have no idea why but it keeps rejecting it.
@fgtechtips3 жыл бұрын
Yes I explain that in the video, it's the same password you use for the app
@vkh2k63 жыл бұрын
@@fgtechtips ah that’s the problem. I used Apple login and that hides the password. Which I can’t find for the life of me. I’m going to quickly reinstall it this week and use my Google address, that should fix it. I think at the price this is a great buy 👍🏻. Awesome video.

So to achieve 60Hz you use a HDMI switch, essentially connecting your Light Mi Neo into one of the input ports on the HDMI switch and this will upgrade the 30Hz to 60Hz to the TV HDMI connection? Sorry, I'm not up to speed with all this but having just received the Light Mi Neo sync box and lights I'd like to know the process for maintaining 60Hz (if at all possible). Please keep it simple for a tech layman. Thank you.

if the splitter you use, will reduce from 120 or 60 to 30hz, then it will it just pass through the signal, if the splitter does not reduce the frequency then you still output the 120 or 60hz

The biggest flaw with other similar products is DRM protection, so does this work with Netflix for instance?
@fgtechtips3 жыл бұрын
As I explain in the video it doesn't work with the TV integrated apps, so if you expect to use your TV Netflix app it won't work. It has to be an external box

@@fgtechtips no i use a Nvidia Shield box with Netflix. But since Netflix and similar streaming party's have a DRM safety the hdmi output is protected. So my current dream light box won't work with DRM supported apps like Netflix.

In the meantime in the channel you can find the review of the neo 2.0, with hdmi 2.0 support (for 4k 60hz) and HDR. That's more than enough for me now

What about a HDR signal? I plan to split 4k HDR and Dolby vision sending 1 to my tv and the other to the sync box. Will it accept HDR signal for the lights sync at least? I'm not plugging in an output into sync box. Just a signal from my splitter
@fgtechtips3 жыл бұрын
I have been in touch with the manufacturer for your question and they confirm you are able to use hdr content with the box as long as you have a splitter in between. The splitter has to be high quality in order to not have quality degradation. The upcoming new product will support hdmi2.0 and therefore HDR too.

@fgtechtips2 жыл бұрын
i honestly don't like the camera popping up on the tv, these solutions are instead invisible
@denodan2 жыл бұрын
@FGtech Tips you don't need it on top, seen people just place it on the bottom hidden brhind soundbar, etc, I could have easily done this bit perfer camera on top, and it's not even a big deal and does not even get in the way. You got an Xbox series X or PS5 then you have no other choice, else you eont get 120fps, VRR or dolby atmos, as these require 2.1 to get the most out of them, Neo sync and Philps would be a downgrade for my gaming consoles and are much more expensive than Govee, which whrn setup right does a respectable job
@denodan2 жыл бұрын
@FGtech Tips but there are multiple ways to hide the camera, does not even need to be on the tv, do basically can be Invisible especially if you have a soundbar In front of the soundbar. I have the option if I choose to, to place the camera were you cannot even see it.

@@denodan it's fine just use a HDMI matrix 2x2 or even 4x2 with EIDID. That way you can send HDMI 2.1 to tv with HDR and Dolby and all that and just send 1080p to the Neo

Hello, I wanted to ask if the hz limitation to 60 and 4k quality only applies for the devices that are connected to the tv through HDMI? Not to the videos that the tv is streaming from like youtube(as an example, if the video supported higher refresh rate or quality)?

@@fgtechtips Thank you. I was about the second version of lytmi neo. Does that affect only to the stuff that are being streamed through HDMI(the refresh rate being limited to 60)? Like if I’m watching something 120hz and it is not streamed through HDMI, then it won’t be affected?

A really thorough review which I found very useful as I am considering buying this product. My main concern is it only uses the 2.4 GHz WiFi signal and my router is dual band. It is possible to disable the 5.0 GHz signal on my router but I would prefer not to have to do this. Do you know if the next version will be able to run on either 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz? Thanks for doing this review
@fgtechtips3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, appreciate it! I also own a dual band router, 5ghz + 2.4ghz, no need to disable your 5ghz band, you just need to remember to use the 2.4ghz band when configuring it. Not sure about the new version since all these home devices use the 2.4ghz band only (same is for my washing machine, soundbar, domotics devices) so I think the new version will still be using the 2.4ghz but I can ask the manufacturer
@andrewnicholson98573 жыл бұрын
@@fgtechtips thanks for replying so quickly. Unfortunately the router I use doesn't allow me to select the 2.4 GHz signal. It only sends out one selectable channel and this is why I would have to disable the 5 GHz signal. If you are able to ask about the next version that be great. Thanks again
