Yes please, more videos on the M-2000C would be nice. I used your tutorials on the F-5E when learning that and would love to see some on the Mirage!

I bought the Mirage a few months ago as a toy to play with until the F-14 arrived. I did not expect that it would become my favorite plane in the game, but it has! I was afraid it would feel numb and synthetic due to FBW, but my love of delta wing flight characteristics more than offset that. Coming from the F-15 I struggled greatly in BVR as any fool with an Amraam casually fired second and hit first. I had to adopt the mentality that the Mirage is an F-5 with more, not an F-15 with less. Soon I became proficient at disappearing into thin air with the notch. Suddenly I'm taking 3-mile side-aspect shots on Hornets who are wondering where that Mirage went. Then I discovered that the Mirage can COOK up to 50k feet in a hurry, and found that F-15 drivers cruising at 25k never ever expect sneaky Mirages to be coming at them from Space. I love this plane. I'll even excuse the useless gunsight and cludgy countermeasures and the tiny dark hidden unlabeled IFF master switch that's so easy to miss.

What you mean disappearing into thin air with the notch?
@Derpy-qg9hn4 жыл бұрын
@@geraldo209 Notching is basically a counter to high-frequency radars; you fly about perpendicular, such that your closure rate with your opponent is within a certain range (50kn is typically considered fairly good), thus becoming invisible to pulse-doppler radars. Most radars have other modes to get around it, but also struggle with other factors like ground interference.

Thank you for doing this. Nothing burns me more than losing lock 5 seconds before the Super 530 impacts with bandit. I was given advice about firing from BELOW my target keeping blue sky as the backround instead of the ground (clutter) firing from a higher altitude. Good results so far, but not always a situation I can create one hundred percent. You showed -- getting very defensive with your last 530 demo -- you're not so worried about breaking or losing lock. Perhaps firing under 10 nautical miles as you demonstrated is the key. Its almost to the point I'd rather take my chances not carrying them -- if I'm not confident in their effectiveness.

Tactics are very situational, I like to be inside the no escape range before taking shots because I'm conservative on my missile shots. The only way I shoot at Max range, on PvP, is to make someone go defensive. A smart enemy knows that a mirage must maintain a radar lock for the shot so if a hornet for instance foxes a fox 3 at me then I'll be turning defensive and my missile will go dumb at this point During my defensive manuaver I stayed within the envelope of the radar but if an aircraft notches then he would most likely break lock from the mirage.

Nice warm up Tricker ! and very nice video, I'm looking how to set up flares and chaff program...…………………… Thanks.

Hey thanks, will do that for sure

Agreed. I cannot seem to figure that out either. I can chaff on program 4 release, but cannot figure out which switch to flip for flares. Keybind for damn CM is confusing as hell as well.

Where's the part about dodging 10 AMRAAMS before getting into the WEZ of the 530D? Just kidding of course thank you for the guide.

Haha nice one

You'll want to refer to Jabbers' notching tutorial for that. I struggled mightily to get close to people in the Mirage until one day I spent 6 hours with a squad mate, just practicing notching him and his Amraams. The Mirage has a good small radar cross-section and is very good at notching. And the absurd instantaneous turn rate is great for snapping out of said notch and sending a missile on its way quickly.

Superb video. I do not own the M-2000C but your video revealed a very rich air to air radar of the M-2000c. I am actually looking forward to the planned overhaul of the M-2000C systems and your video just heightened my interest in the bird. If I may ask, is that radar hud display peculiar to the M-2000C? Can it be displayed for the hornet radar?
@TrickerDCS5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment! The mirage is a great module for Air to Air! The mirage is the only one that I'm aware of that can put the radar up on the screen like I did. The hornet has an HMD which can lock up targets via the radar but doesn't display the radar like I use it on the mirage.
@ernestwinslow73165 жыл бұрын
@@TrickerDCS Good to know that. The HUD display is a special for the M-2000C then. Thanks Tricker the info.

Thanks for the reply, no sure what you mean by friend or foe, I usually just say friendly and hostile to classify enemies

There is something wrong with the missile flight model. At the beginning of the video you're aiming at a 13 NM target flying toward you at a closing speed of 1040 knots, it would take 45 seconds for your 2 planes to meet. The Super 530D missile is supposed to reach +2.5 mach relative to the lauch aircraft but the time to target is displayed as 42 seconds. Even if the missile won't reach its max speed at this altitude, this is hardly realistic.
