There were five Sri Lankan nationals on board Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. They were identified as Puspanathan Subramaniam, 34, a mechanical engineer; 37-year-old Chandrika Sharma, an employee of the International Collective in Support of Fishworkers (ICSF); 50-year-old S. S. Puspanathan, 59-year-old Chandrika's mother S. S. Usha; and 4-year-old Neetra Puspanathan, Chandrika's daughter. Chandrika Sharma was traveling to Mongolia for a fisheries conference. The loss of these individuals, along with the other passengers and crew, was a profound tragedy for their families and communities.
