Thank you, Lydia, for sharing some of your culture with us! What people who are colonized don’t get (yes, Caucasians were colonized too, but centuries ago, so they think their colonized beliefs are their indigenous mysteries and they’re wrong) is that indigenous spirituality has many mysteries that can only be experienced. Sharing all of it has no advantage for the listener (if they are even listening at all) and even less advantage for the teller. Lydia shared what she could to at least let us all know that the Maori are here and exist and have their own unique culture so that everyone can be educated and be sensitive and empathetic to her people. She did not share their spiritual mysteries, which are not to be shared with outsiders, and I would never expect her to. All my love to Lynia!

Can any Maori person get the face tattoo , or do they need to be a leader of some sorts? I've heard ppl say only Maori with a special rank or social status can get one if so what is the special rank or social status required? They are very beautiful and I love the idea of ppl getting in touch with their ancient cultures , u are right that so much colonization and mixing has gone on its easy to forget our humble ancient origins.

@@greek42069That was the original reason for getting one. However anyone with Maaori whakapapa can get one. It’s best to know your roots first to explain to the artist. Your roots, your family and who you are as an individual will matter on how to yours will turn out. They are always unique to you.

@reeciebehere
@reeciebehere 9 ай бұрын
@@torichan9872Not really. It’s a lot more complex than to simply intimidate. It’s also not about being attractive or appealing.
@reeciebehere
@reeciebehere 9 ай бұрын
The gestures mean many different things and pukana is widely used in kapahaka, Māori traditional performance by iwi/tribe/nation, to emphasise an aspect of the performance. To me, it’s something a little less formal and close to home, as in I’d get a bit of the whites of the eyes, pukana look from my nan or aunties for being cheeky. I hope that makes sense There’s a bunch of good vlogs/blogs about pukana and Māori on KZbin etc…

One thing I would say as a Māori who loves the gospel of Jesus - just remember the hands that delivered the word of God were colonised hands… but that doesn’t make the Word itself colonised. Please don’t close your hearts to the beauty of Jesus because the people who delivered it were hypocrites who actually are the very type of people Jesus speaks of as ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’ and ‘a brood of vipers’. Gods best Blessings to all reading this ❤

@user-oh4yd5uh4e

Sorry but you are wrong there. Jesus did exist. I think you ment to say God isn´t real. I myself have no time for religion. To quote Bertrand Russel "Religion is something left over from the infancy of our intelligence, it will fade away as we adopt reason and science as our guidelines." Maori mythology is no different. Take for example the myth of the slowing down of the sun. In the days of old Tamanuiterā, the sun, used to move through the sky at much too fast a pace for humanity to complete all their days' chores leaving long, cold nights that lasted for many hours while Tamanuiterā slept. Māui and his brothers journeyed to Tamanuiterā's sleeping pit with a large rope, which in some tellings was made from their sister Hina's hair. The brothers fashioned the rope into a noose or net, and in doing so "discovered the mode of plaiting flax into stout square-shaped ropes, (tuamaka); and the manner of plaiting flat ropes, (paharahara); and of spinning round ropes", which when Tamanuiterā awoke found himself caught in. Using a patu made from the jawbone of their grandmother, Murirangawhenua, Māui beat the sun into agreeing to slow down and give the world more time during the day. So you see if that had that not happened McDonald´s would only be serving breakfast. @@williambaker9506

It's really important to note that if you are praying to God, just pray to God. Praying to ancestors or people who have passed is called necromancy. Like catholics who pray to Mary. This practice is strongly warned against in God's Word as it can invite spiritual entities that you don't want in your life. God bless 👍

When Jesus spoke in parables yes but he also spoke plainly... He also said no man can go to God unless through me Jesus, why, because God sent him God blessed jesus like no man on earth, Jesus had the gifts and knowledge and wisdom man didn't, man was already sinning so God sent Jesus to tell Gods people the TRUTH so that they may hear and have faith and believe. Jesus did not come here to create religions... We couldn't go through another man to God because no man had wisdom only Jesus did, because Jesus was filled with the holy spirit with wisdom.... religion even Christianity religious ways have so confused this.....
