Got one 380. Easy for my wife. Excellent pistol. Loved it so much that when S&W came with a 9 mm version I went to get me one. Horrible experience. After purchasing it I went straight to the range. Out of 50 rounds, 37 jams. However the gun is very accurate. Sent it back to factory for fixing. Now waiting to have it back. Really hope they will do a good jobs because it seems an awesome gun.........when it works.

Can your wife tell the difference between racking the 380 ez and the 9m ez?
@markdean19843 жыл бұрын
@@Antonio-si8pu With a bit of extra effort she can do it. However this POS after I got it back from S&W I took it for a ride. First 50 rounds OK, next 50 rounds jammed 10 times. I called an instructor to check it and within 8 rounds jammed 3 times. Now, again, it is back to the factory to be fixed. I might be alone on this, but I would not recommend this firearm.

Thomas Roseman they are almost the same size, but the 9mm is a bit wider. The function and controls are very similar. You get a bit more recoil with the 9mm, but is very manageable. Pro tip #2: never, EVER take an EZ apart any farther than the Field Strip level. I got a 380EZ before the manual safety-less model was available and after it became available I searched for info on pulling this thing apart and there was none. So, I cleverly pulled out the hammer assembly to see if the safety could be removed, as can be done with an M&P. Little springs and tabs and stuff fell to the table in a way that indicated that I was never going to get it back together again. I felt that, even though it fed everything now, the interior complexity level was so high (and delicate) that I didn’t want to find out how this pistol aged. This was my trade-in on a P365XL when I first met one of those. Food for thought: this is a fully cocked and locked-only-by-the-grip-safety model. How safe does this feel to you after you think about it for a while? The 1911 (all bow and genuflect) had a manual safety for this, ONLY, until the military insisted the grip safety be added. And it has been a source of constant bitching ever since. How far do we trust it? S&W has obviously tested the heck out of it and feels it’s fine but the concept flies in the face of how civilian shooters have been commenting for over a hundred years. I didn’t mind it too much, just food for thought. Again, dude isn’t a 50 or 60% cocked striker; it is fully cocked. Just saying, this thing looks fine from the outside, shoots nice and has terrific EZ goals...looking at the inside might get a little scary.

I wanted the S&W shield plus performance center but the gun store only had the versions with the hinge trigger (I do not like the hinge trigger). So I settled for 9mm Shield EZ 2.0 but I have a thumb safety (I do not mind that though). It is my first handgun and I do like the ease of use and it does feel right in my hand and that is important. The only 2 things I do not like about it are the dots are not hi-viz (I plan on using that glow paint eventually) and it only holds 8+1 rounds. The firearm is for home defense so I guess its not a huge deal the lack of round capacity. I do plan on getting another pistol so I will order the exact make/model I want next time. My daughter is 20 and wants to learn about gun safety and how to shoot so I think this firearm is good for her to learn on as well since its easier to operate. I didnt load/fire it yet until I take it to a range, but I am looking forward to it.

I've never had any trouble working the slide release on my EZ 9 or EZ 380 as long as there is ammo in the magazine. With an unloaded magazine it's darn near impossible to release either of them. No idea if that's by design or just dumb luck. I had gone through three or four reloads hitting the slide release, before I even realized I was doing something I didn't expect to be able to do. Insert mag, hit slide release, and back to shooting.
@theparalexview7852 жыл бұрын
With an empty magazine and the slide locked back, you're needing to overcome the pressure of the magazine spring under the follower, in addition to the usual friction resistance of the slide lock mechanism. This is true of all semi-auto pistols, but with some - notably a custom 1911-A1 type with extended slide release lever - there's enough mechanical advantage to overcome the spring pressure under the magazine follower. The standard S&W M&P series slide lock offers little or no mechanical advantage. I'm surprised that there aren't more aftermarket levers to enable the M&P slide locks to also function as slide release levers. I'm able to release the slide from the locked open position on my Shield Plus if I use both thumbs, or the left thumb only, but not with my right thumb (my normal shooting hand has arthritis). But I haven't tried using a fine stone to polish the mating surfaces of the slide lock lever and mating notch in the slide.

1150 FPS for 115 gr. ammo is almost industry standard. Most are quicker. Sellier & Bellot IS actually peppy leaving at 1280 FPS. Winchester's "Active Duty" ammo is labeled as 1320 FPS at the muzzle. THAT is peppy.

My EZ seems to shoot accurate. Maby more than my glock 19 gen 3. I have a serious injury to my right rist and only thing i dis like bout it is the ammo capacity. But from my research most gun fights are over from 2 to 5 shots. So im cool with it unless were at a full blown war

I have to wonder about these pistols because in my mind if it's easier to rack the slide that means The Recoil spring is weaker which to me translates into the gun beating itself up more during operation because the slide is slamming back against the frame with more Force and also a weaker recoil spring means less forward force to strip off and chamber a new round which can cause feeding malfunctions. Curious on your opinion how about this
@propdoctor215644 жыл бұрын
@Thystaff Thywill yes good point.
@CtrlAltRetreat4 жыл бұрын
The big reason why the gun has a longer barrel is that it has a longer recoil spring than the shield which lets it have a lower force over a longer distance to have the same total energy dispersal. It's also why it probably is more reliable with weaker or cheap ammo because it gives you a lot of leeway to pull extract that case quite far out of the chamber as it's kicking it free. I also would like to try it with a stronger recoil spring though because it might make for an exceptionally low snap single stack carry gun like that.

Most folks won’t put 500 rounds down range total. The rest of us know we need to change the springs out every 2nd or 3rd year of shooting it. Just my opinion on it. 🤗🥳👊😎👍🇺🇸. Beretta Sr.

@Justin Opinion, is the EZ .380 significantly softer shooting than the EZ 9mm? Anyone?
@ptrades8004 жыл бұрын
Significantly softer? No. I think you're not giving up much at all to go with the 9 ez. Wife and I have both calibers
@nmr69884 жыл бұрын
@@ptrades800 , thank you. I will probably suggest to my small, elderly, weak hands friend that she buy both calibers as well. She'll probably never even shoot the 9 mm one, but if she gains confidence over the next few months, who knows?thank you for your response. I would be able to judge myself if any of the ranges around here had a 380 EZ or a 9 mm easy and the rental cabinets, but even the big ranges have nothing. Very disappointing and short-sighted of them in my opinion.

Nancy M-R I agree Nancy.... they should have 2 or 3 of both calibers. These EZ Pistols sound terrific and I need to buy one of each myself for Testing. I really enjoy most all of my Smith&Wesson handguns. Take Care Nancy. Beretta Sr.

I also would like to know whether generally speaking this is a softer shooting gun than the Sig Sauer P365, which I find to be quite snappy even with about 800 rounds through it. I understand the answer will have something to do with ammunition choices. Anyone who has experience with both? My arthritic hands are crippled after 3-4 hundred rounds at the range.
@thomasmcozart10934 жыл бұрын
Mark S Delaney Generally speaking, a pistol with a larger frame will have less recoil. I have the P365SAS with the ported barrel. It still has more recoil than my other pistols. My others are CZP10S, HK VP9SK, Walther PPQ, PPQ Q5 Match and Sig 320 XCompact. My favorites to shoot are the 2 Walthers.
@marksd56504 жыл бұрын
Thomas M Cozart Since writing my question I’ve bought a Springfield 1911 TRP .45 and a Sig P220 Legion .45 and they are both softer shooting than the P365, but I wouldn’t want to carry them all day.

I get the design and it's purpose. However, even my wife with her weak hands (not an insult, medical issues) has no trouble gripping an xdm and activating the grip safety. Not one hiccup in using it. Racking the slide? Yes, she found that difficult.
@OllamhDrab2 жыл бұрын
Hrm. To be honest, the arthritis-friendly-ness of these is not even why they caught my eye, but arthritis-friendly is surely a bonus. I'm actually a gal kinda trained on old school stuff and I hate modern spongy-but-heavy-ish triggers and a lack of actual positive controls, too. Cause they just will feel neither safe nor ready to fire for me, really. (I was actually poking around looking at Turkish 1911 and Hi-power clones when I noticed this, if that gives an idea.) I'll take a grip safety for a normal trigger and, yeah, give me the manual safety, and that could be something modern I could live with. Racking slides still isn't my problem, but sometimes, disassembly is, or releasing slides, Long and vague trigger pulls can throw me off, too. Especially if it's not a good day for hand strength. But just cause of the shape of my kinda spindly hands, if I can thumb back a hammer, I will. Anyway, aging and medical issues do different things to different people and body types, so maybe lightening everything up is just a good idea, even if everyone doesn't need all of it. I'm mostly thinking, when I check one of those out in person it'll either fit me or it won't. It doesn't look like you can do an awful lot about the grips if it doesn't. I'm just kinda reminded of my Da showing me some S&W 9mm in the 80s and not liking it, then he showed me a Ladysmith edition, and I was like, "Wow, they took something I didn't like and made it worse in every way!" (I dunno what they were thinking.) Anyway, I guess we'll see. :)

I'm in the market for my first pistol, possibly a 9mm. This M&P Shield 9 EZ looks nice, but the small mag size is a total turn off. So far I'm pretty much up in the air about which to get, but I have my eye on the Ruger SR9C, and the Beretta 92 Compact.
@romans6two3384 жыл бұрын
It's a single stack and 8 plus 1 is plenty in a defensive situation. Once the threat is over, stop shooting, otherwise you could have 12 giving you an opinion.
