I was in the U.S. Navy and i asked my C.O. to play this song over the ships loud speakers as we pulled into port after a long 8 month deployment in the Persian Gulf and he obliged being a Crue fan himself. As we approached the pier with hundreds of eagerly waiting family and friends to meet us and this song playing it was a rush of pride and relief coupled with rock concert cheers from those on the pier that was overwhelming. Something i will never ever forget in my lifetime.

In 1986 I was miserable kid in high school. The only bright spot of my day was hanging with my drummer friend Barbie in music class. She was a total rocker chick, had epic big 80s hair and was OBSESSED with the Crüe. We would play Home Sweet Home together on the piano. I totally had a crush on her but was too shy to ask her out. I never got a picture of her or found out what happened to her after high school. So if you're reading this Barbie McDaniel, thank you for being my friend. Hope you are still rocking to the Crüe. I cheered and so did all of my friends when MTV finally banned this song. NOBODY wanted to hear it anymore and it was obvious the result was being manipulated somehow. In the 1980’s the phone system was analog. There were choke points, which meant callers from some parts of the country would have difficulty getting through to New York where MTV is located. This was explained to us after a local band appeared on Basement Tapes and lost partly because “the phone lines were jammed” and voters from our town couldn’t get through. The point of this story being - a relatively small but devoted cadre of Crue fans in a major node like Los Angeles could put Home Sweet Home up to #1, while everyone else struggled to get in through jammed lines. When #1 on the countdown came up, and it was f**king Motley Crue AGAIN it was time to change the channel.

Who's still listening in 2021?! This is the best song by Motley Crue...so many great memories at that time. Lost my baby sis to Cancer around the time this song came out. So it brings tears also. Reminds me of her every time I hear this song. If I could just talk to you one more time, see your happy smile and hug you sis. Love and miss you always, see you on the other side. Life is Beautiful! My best friend was a funny goofy kid and a fan of rap but knew nothing about rock/metal. At one point this was his favorite song and he would sing it and play it on his phone everywhere. So much that I ended up hating this song haha. We would always make fun of him because he knew nothing about this kind of music but always played this song and would act like he is a rockstar. Months later he passed away at 19 years old and we played this song at his funeral. I now love this song and it will always remind me of his goofy ass singing it. RIP brother ❤️

Thanks for sharing that was a good one I like that story that's cool. Alot or should I say some of the younger younger generations love to listen to this kind of music to because there parent's listened to it and some songs good ones just never get old and fade away, it's just that simple. I can hear a story and think of a song that has something to do with it lol. That's I'm sure how alot of song writers got there music written is because they are telling parts of their lives or someone else's, nothing wrong with that. They are expressing themselves or however you wanna say it lol.
