Here is a video to show how much weight the M101A2 can actually haul: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKGzlnWXrLedsMU
@brendanjames71225 жыл бұрын
They're getting $1000+ for those trailers in good condition now. I've been looking for a good buy on one for a few years, I drive a CUCV daily so a 101a2 would be perfect as that's what they towed them with. And I can still use the military wiring.
@evinsteven135 жыл бұрын
I had mine listed for sale for $600 for months with not a single hit on it, and it's in decent shape. I finally just yanked the bed off and sold it for $300, and kept the frame and axle to make a flatbed utility trailer out of it.

This military trailers are the best good job!

It's not intended to use as a dump trailer and you can and usually will damage the rear tongue mounts if you do that often. That feature is only there to drop the tongue so they can fit a buttload of trailers in a ship's cargo hold to send overseas, and for storage in warehouses, shipping by train etc. Those rear mounts are not designed to handle the stress of using it as a dump trailer. It is an extremely common mistake because people keep spreading that around unfortunately.
@NoNonsenseKnowHow8 ай бұрын
Yeah I would agree with you that they are not designed to be used as a dump trailer especially with heavy loads. However I've seen plenty of videos with people dumping light loads. If you're dumping mulch or a small load of dirt. I don't think it's an issue

How did you secure your Hi-Lift Jack to the fender? Any way to keep the jack from growing legs and walking off while unattended?

Was this after the flooding before.Reason I ask is because I have the same exact tundra and looking to buy the same exact trailer. I asked the guy about the braking system that he knew nothing about it but he’s giving me a hell of a deal 100 bucks but I’m going to tow it to tractor supply store and see what kind of repairs I need to tell her the 50 miles home I may stay off the highway because I think they had the world to frame a little bit or something I don’t know what I’m getting into I wanna post a picture. Any suggestions on the braking system upgrades or how to repair but what you look for in repairing them would help thank you by the way I love your channel because you have exact same truck I have and the best video and I like is how you pull that tundra out of the water and is there a story makes me want to keep my change your favorite but I have the same yearIt’s not 4 wheel drive

I have one of these trailers and would love to see your followup video showing the mods you made. Is your hitch as high as you would like? Mine might be an inch lower than yours and I think it could stand to be a little higher.
@NoNonsenseKnowHow4 жыл бұрын
I use the geny hitch. Yes it is a good height for this trailer. I will try and do that follow-up video in the near future

REALLY COOL FOR US LADIES - WHO ARE NOT MECHANICAL AND STUFF -WHAT ARE THE MEASUREMENTS Cause i was gonna rent a uhaul 4x 7 trailer to haul my camping gear i have a dodge journey 2015 it has a tow package on it and im taking 5 teens camping in colorado - this summer so i thought it interesting that you said you used it in colorado - im not going on quite as rough terrain as you put we are camping NM UT CO and i would like to get out in some dispersed camping - but was really interested in a heavy duty trailer to do it with - i have a 1300 tow capacity so would this work for me - and it looks smaller than a 4 x 7 would , i have no idea what 497 cubit feet is -
@NoNonsenseKnowHow5 жыл бұрын
That's awesome that you're heading out that way for a camping trip. It's absolutely beautiful, unfortunately I'm all the way in Pennsylvania so it's such a long haul to get there. I would have to say this trailer is too heavy duty to tow behind a journey. You're much better off with a smaller trailer. The interior dimensions of this one I believe are 5 by 8 but I don't have the trailer with me right now to measure. In the video I show a picture of the placard on the trailer, I'm pretty sure that has the dimensions on it if you pause it.

What axles are on that trailer? Looks like Chevy 8 lug rims. I'm looking for similar to switch so it matches my Dodge 8 lug pattern.
@NoNonsenseKnowHow5 жыл бұрын
Yes they come with the Chevy 8 bolt pattern on them. I went to the junkyard and got a set of wheels off of an Express van 3500

At what max speed is it safe to tow these?
@NoNonsenseKnowHow5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what they're rated for. But with the all-terrain tires I have on it I've cruised around 75 or 80 without a problem.

Do you know if they did an axle swap? Standard rims do not fit standard military axles......
@NoNonsenseKnowHow4 жыл бұрын
To the best of my knowledge this thing never had an axle swap. But yes I see what you're saying. I went to buy another one of these and all the ones I saw did not have an 8 lug. This definitely looks like a military axle and it doesn't look modified. If you need me to get some more video clips of it or something in the future I can
