Hi Johnny, The interior of your M113 is really looking nice. The decals make quite a difference in the way is looks. Thanks for the update. Have a great day my friend. Jeff

Great little build forsure 👍I'm SO! glad they started adding decals to kits for the gages, I was getting tired of trying to make them stand out. Dry brushing worked but my eyes didn't haha. Looking forward to your next update and God bless.

All the Aussie buckets I rode in had seafoam green interior & olive green ramp. I've read white was phased out in '64.

In US service here is how the paint color change played out - both the M113 and the M113A1 were used in Vietnam. The M113 had a white interior and was powered by a gasoline V-8. In 1967 the US Army began the rebuild program converting the M113 to the M113A1 with the V-6 Detroit Diesel and changing the interior color from white to Seafoam Green. This build is of the M113 with the Gas V-8 so the correct color for the interior is the old standard white which is a holdover from WWII. I hope this clears things up. Thanks for the wonderful comment, take care and model on. Johnny

I’ve worked on both the white interior and seafoam interior. Is there a pant number for the seafoam. I’d like to use that color for my build

I do agree with you Johnny and i also believe that you are talking the right desicion painting each part separately! Easier to work with and handle and you can also detail each part far better and easier! Excellent job done on the interior! Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend!

The decals for the data plates in the Driver's Hole look good. Those aluminum engine access panels have a black closed cell foam (EVA?) seal around the edge that you can see when you secure the clamps tightly. I served on later A2 tracks that were the Seafoam Green inside, except the 81mm M125A2 and 4.2in M106A2 Mortar Tracks that were Olive Drab in the back.

Hi thanks for the comment. Those decals really do ad a lot to the interior. Your right about the later APCs with the light green interior, this is the M113 with the gas engine, pre A1/A2. White was often used for the interior on these just like armored vehicles of WWII. The color change came later (I think with the M113A1). Mortar vehicles were painted green inside because of having the large roof hatches open for firing, exposing the interior to aircraft flying overhead, so olive drab is the best to help conceal these vehicles from aerial attack. Thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate it my friend! Johnny

Hi Johnny you show some awesome tips during this video. I like how you apply the decals , using the helping hands to hold the part is great and the tweezers for the decals is helpful. Just wondering why you used CA to glue some parts down ? Thanks
@hillbillymodeling3 ай бұрын
Glad it was helpful Jerry! Sometimes I use CA glue if I need to glue parts that are painted. The Tamiya extra thin cement is designed to soften and "weld" polystyrene plastic together. If the part has paint on the mating surface it will prevent the cement from softening the plastic. It with then just soften the paint resulting in a less secure joint. We can always remove the paint at the joint and just use the extra thin. All depends on where the part is in the build, it's a judgement call. It also helps to use CA where the contact surface is really small, or if you would like to move on quickly with the build and not have to wait for the extra thin to dry before continuing on. Also, if you are joining a metal part such as photo etch or metal wire you have to use CA on those materials. Hope this helps clear up any questions you have. Thanks so much for watching, take care and model on my friend! Johnny

Looks great. Anytime I use CA glue I end up getting it all over my fingers. No matter how careful I'm with it.
