The first versions of the m16 issued to troops in the field in Vietnam. Don't have the crome lining in the barrel and the hi humidity and dirt quickly built up along with that dirty powder that ball ammo used were the perfect recipe for epic weapon failures we all know about that occurred over there I saw the story of the m16 on history channel

M203 grenade launcher m 16 was issued as well as 45 cal pistol and 81 mm motor and as forward observer carried a radio , the 45 postal was to not hit motor while setting it to Aiming stakes or direct target like in Arctic conditions were maps are useless and just have to aim site to target ,, then the ammunition m16 203 grenades and more, 5.56 magazine 30 to 60 rounds if you tape them upside down flip the magazine , smoke assorted, 45 lb radio Pr 73 standard radio pack with spare batteries, food personal winter gear / jungle / Arctic jackets boots snow and ski and slay harness to pull large 10 man tents 5 gal gas arctic stove water and extra winter bags inner sleeping bags more 81 motor rounds and weeks food for 10 people and not break a sweat in the -13 hot day to - 93 with wind shear Force Arctic winds January to February for Arctic Raiders patch , but jungle school was much hotter more rust on everything almost in hours time , its more weight than people can carry so many just dropped gear as they started to die until they just fell into the snow to die , it was their time mentally and physically, in jungle you just drop into a large spike needle tree 4 inch covered ,, black palm tree, or have viper attack your face in a fraction of a second and never see it as the weight humidity and heat and days of dehydrated food 3 hours sleep if lucky per day 5 days on end some days no sleep and walk all day water may be used up quickly and just heat stroke and abuse of physical pain and existing conditions of bug bites wet clothing socks and bug bites constant , for Jungle Expert Badge and Expert infantry Badge , yes we need better ways to reduce weights To the troops as in time they like I will have Back problems and leg pains and neck and headaches allergies to exposure and frost bite pain in cold weather , and so forth not felt at the time of all the work at a younger age so much damage is done as infantry man that the grenade and fragments of deflected munitions burning holes in clothing if your lucky that that is all , or jumping out of helicopter that shoots up because he thinks he's getting hit by rounds and end up falling out at even higher altitudes than expected and so forth , printing with new metals on computers will bring back the power to protect troops who are defending country's , who do not wish to hear about anyone getting hurt unless its battle related ,, its all battle related and it takes one who has done that to know without question. I feel in ten years these old films will make the new weapons look like these old ones that , are used today , we need more grenade launching m16 or the m 203 as we called them light and functional with bigger hitting explosive rounds to help the enemy find his death faster if that is what he is looking for .

It not an Assault Rifle or weapon and you are allowed in military training or service to refer to it as an assault rifle.
@scott72702 ай бұрын

@scott72702 ай бұрын
Why did you add assault in the KZbin title. The training film did NOT refer to the M16 rifle anywhere in the film as an assualt rifle, in fact it clearly referred to it as a defense weapon.
@anthonylawrence9307 Жыл бұрын
Where as the m16 was designed to replace the m14 and for Vietnam, and Vietnam being a "POLICE ACTION" (US Government definition not mine) therefore it is a defensive weapon. Nuff said.
@tmpass10 жыл бұрын
who added "assault rifle" to the title? Rediculous.
@dzac0110 жыл бұрын
Actually, in the selective fire M16 the term is correct... in the case of my semi XM 15, it is not.. Auto fire makes the difference..
@MikeMiasuki-vy3xx2 ай бұрын
M-16 is not an assault rifle. I never saw (in 26 years of AF time) a TSgt in the chow hall. I thought SSgt was the top grade. A lot of 20 year SSgts. Freezes from the 50s and early 60s. AF personnel system is one of the worst in the world.

The M-16 isn't an assault rifle. An assault rifle is any rifle used to commit the crime of assault.. The M-16 is literally just a small caliber hunting rifle setup to fire full auto (at that time).

It had that classification for intermediate cartridge, shoulder fired rifle/carbine, with selector switch capable of full auto fire.
