One of my fav ships! Melts NPC Hammerheads with both gunners using remote turrets; and is one of the most armored ships (including anti-distortion buff). Hercules ships jet through atmosphere - can get from New Babbage Hangar to Lorville Hangars in 8.5 minutes (using fast quantum drive).

actually flying one, we did some test with ppl of my corp to improve his tankiness = this is a real beast, this is a space tonk haha, and great moments of fun with dropping nova tonks or greycat rocs for new ingame scenarios for a lot of fun. Btw ur format video is nicer now. My next question is : will Crusader Industries release an exploration ship ? like a mix of the mercury and the hercule for another great hype !

This was a nice overview of the M2. I thought long & hard about whether to add the C2 or the M2 to my fleet. I decided upon the C2 for a few reasons. The first is the extra cargo space - the C2 just has more. The second is crew accommodations. Even thought the C2 only has two crew, it comes with a galley and rec area where the M2 does not. That makes for a cranky M2 flight crew. I realize that's mostly RP immersion, but immersion is a big reason I enjoy Star Citizen. The additional drop-passenger space and armory on the M2 may seem useful, but speaking from experience there are few things more unmanageable than a bunch of grunts or tankers who are hungry and bored and have to share a single toilet. If CIG had made the space for just six military passengers (enough for two Nova Tank crews), shrunk the armory a bit, then added a small galley, I'd have found the M2 much more compelling. The third reason is price. Both the C2 and the M2 are expensive ships to purchase. There really isn't anything that justifies the price gap between the two. I may be proven short-sighted when ship armor advances from myth to reality, but by then I'll probably have saved enough to add an M2 to my fleet.

Crewe said they went a bit overboard when it came to taking creature comforts away from the M2 during the building phase and that they were going to go back and give it some sort of small kitchenette. Not the full spread the C2 has, but an area where you can still prep some food.

I can see where you're coming from with the C2, which is still a great choice, but honestly I like my M2 better, because I plan to use it for moving cargo through more dangerous areas, and so the extra turret and armor justify the extra expense in my mind. Even the armory and jump seats have a bit of utility if you decided to take some NPC marines with to prevent theoretical boarding actions (which I seriously hope come to the game, because that would be incredible). Now, hopefully we'll get some modularity in the hull because I don't see the marines being a constant feature and I would like the ability to put in a rec room/kitchen/extra cargo/whatever else when I'm not hauling grunts. Maybe even an extra fuel tank to extend the range? Dunno, but it would be nice to have some options. Any rate. I figure the Hercules series are perfect for hauling through dangerous space where the Hull and Cat just don't have any business going. And the Hull series will dominate the more peaceful areas of space, but the M2/C2 and Cat will still have their place as ground to space/space to ground cargo shuttles.

Great review, after trying out during IAE today, I was sold on this as the superior upgrade to my trust Caterpillar for high performance cargo hauling, with the vehicle on/off ramp I've been needing too. I therefore melted down the Cat and upgraded to the M2, thanks again for the great review.

I did love the Cat , and still have a few hoping for modularity and its other features . But have taken to the M2 for my current cargo work flow , its speed overtakes the C2 which when time is limited or relates to profit . However they cost more . Military spec and armor will be the advantage in the future. I am aware of future new ships later that may overtake even the M2. Ps I started with C2/ A2 , now M2 / A2 , The quick Q Drive being very important.

I can see the Hercules becoming my go-to ship for trading once the commodity prices are worth it again. Unfortunately until then it'll be collecting dust in the hangar as there are ships better suited for combat. And coming from a Starfarer the view doesn't take any getting used to :D

I like the video format and marked sections. I am a C2 owner and the Hercules has exceeded my expectations. I almost upgraded my C2 to a M2 during fleet week. When I originally pledged for this ship my thinking was if I am going to spend real money of significant value I wanted the maximum capability of the ships primary function: cargo capacity. Frankly either the C2 or M2 are both solid buys and pick the one you like better for your play style. My orgs have lots of M2s but some of us use these as Merlin carriers effectively. The M2 chin turret is a potential navigation hazard launching certain taller ships out the front so I opted to keep my C2. The armor of the M2 is nice but with upgraded shields the ship is tough enough and the next patch, or the patch that intros capacitor weapon gameplay, all the ships and modules are getting rebalanced so there is no idea what those extra armor resists will look like later or if they will be worth the extra cash.

Even without heavy armor being in game, The M2 has twice as much base durability as the C2, AND two large shields instead of one. The C2 isn't remotely tender or delicate, but the M2 feels nigh invincible in comparison.

It was a tossup for me on a C2 or the Vanguard Warden...I kept my Cat and went with the Warden. I may get a C2 in the future but keep my Cat, I just love the looks of the Drake Cat on the inside, but what stopped me from buying the C2 this past week was the bug not allowing me go into QT. It was constant not once in awhile. No other ship I own has a problem jumping into QT but the C2 sure did for me. If they get rid of that bug I will get one. Good video as always Farrister. o7

It may just have been a bug with all the strain on the servers, but no other ship I had that problem of going into QT. Other than that I love the C2.

I got my pledge for an Aurora MR back in 2015. I started flying it a little over a month ago. I upgraded my pledge now to a Starfarer, after going through a CL, a Titan and a Taurus. I did some serious ROC mining and got myself a Prospector in game. Kept on mining with the Prospector and today, I just bought what I thought was one of the best ship in the game, the M2. I love it so far. One question, though: there are all those storage across the ship, specially the armory but, is there a way to stock weapons there? Because if there is one, I didn't find it yet. I wish the video would have mentioned it. Other than that, great video, very informative. There were a few things I was not aware of.

There is! You can even check by the pilots chair for a small box for a sidearm. But it's better to just have them in ship inventory at the moment.

I already have a HULL-D transport ship for cargo, so i would like to knew if the cargo bay on C2 can transport the same ground vehicles at cargo bay. Thanks for your comment :) No, at the moment the C2 has more cargo storage (696 vs 522 on the M2). But the M2 can take all of those vehicles you mention

How would you rate M2 vs Carrack? Both eill recieve heavy armor. Given that they have similar cargo scu, I found Carrack the more versatile choice with medbay, exploration, droned etc. No pilot controlled weapons however, but Id rather take another ship into combat.

The Carrack is much much bigger. The M2 is all about the cargo bay, and actually competes well with the Carrack for hauling vehicles. The M2 probably also suits a small crew better than the Carrack. But I agree, the Carrack is definitely more versatile

I have a question on the M2: given that the ship hangar is the same of the C2, I guess it's not completely filled up by boxes: what happens then if you fit a very small ship or vehicle inside the M2 and it ends up overtaking part of the cargo grid? does the boxes ends up redistributed, stockpiling like in the C2 or you simply lose all the cargo space anyway? 🤔

I went for the A2 and got a loan M2 for the time being. I must say I'm slightly disappointed by the ship's interior layout and the visibility, although I knew I had to expect something similar to the Starfarer. It's a great ship, but for this price tag I was expecting more.

Right now the C2 M2 , star runner is not very enjoyable for me because there is huge fps spike when walking thru doors and there are lot of doors....is there anyway to fix this?

try capping frames, if you press the ` button, then type "sys_MaxFPS 60" (or whatever your pc can run smoothly in those situations) then press enter. this will cap frames so your gpu isnt shooting for the stars

The pricing only makes sense if you divide it by the expected crew complement, and imagine that it's 3 players buying the ship :(

I think the in game price of the m2 is between 40 to 70 million credits....ye no thanks. I mean a full haul of grasping weevilled eggs is probably worth over 100 million credits so I don't maybe it is worth it

Once the hull series and bmm comes out this will be another ship that will fade away in the verse just like starfarer and caterpillar. Everyone is about maximum profits so if you are looking for a ship to fly for money while you play keep this in mind as ships with larger cargo holds become available. Nobody cares about delivery to a planet surface for trading they care about making the most money as quickly as possible. So if that means they are flying to just space stations many won't care as long as they make the profit. Once you understand this the choice in ships becomes clear. Half the ships released right now are a joke because they are just playing with numbers and it's not gonna matter when they are overshadowed by ships that can hold more cargo thus making money. Nobody is going to care about how small the hole is. 9 times outta 10 traders will stay away because it's not worth the effort.
