just a little note on the decals. If youre going for a dday helmet there should be no "tick marks" for the 2nd battalion. If youre going for Market garden and beyond those tick marks should be square and not round. Just something to keep in mind in regards to authenticity. All depends how accurate you want it ofc

I have a front seam swivel bale I had a classmate sandblast for me years ago I wanted to repaint forever ago. At the Front mid war liner that needs repainting as a surplus store guy scratched paint off of it showing me how to put a net on incorrectly. I can't wait to make it look like it rolled off the assembly line again, and hopefully find another shell to do a m2 conversion for if I can find the right code for it. I dont remember what my shell and liner is right now as it's all in storage. Wonderful restoration/remake!

@3:54 the m1 soon to be an m2 helmet has been stripped down to a chrome dome or in the case of the metal it’s a steel dome but chrome dome just sounds cooler.

How did you keep the D bales from falling off before you even spot welded them onto the helmet.

The shell slipped and the d-bales fell a few times, I just cut it out of the video, lol. The spot welder clamps down and provides just enough pressure to keep everything together.

I beg to differ with you on the original paint. That looked like WW2 paint. And the fact there was nothing underneath it reinforces my thoughts there. You destroyed a wartime helmet.

The video might not do it justice but it's a pretty obvious repaint. There were heavy brush strokes all over it, and obviously there's no replacement for actually having the thing in your hands. It was definitely sand and not cork.
