As of 2023, 16GB is the minimum decent amount of RAM. It is shameful that Apple is still releasing new MacBook *PRO* models with only 8GB of RAM, which is insufficient for many pro users’ needs, and charging a premium price for the decent 16GB. This practice is not only unfair to customers, but it also shows a lack of respect for their intelligence and needs.
@TechnologyMan9575 Жыл бұрын
Well said, sir. They must be for the "amateur" pro users! A new subset of pro users! Lol😸 Apple only cares about squeezing the money out of their customers at all costs (glad I'm not an Apple customer). They have been taking away features while increasing prices since the iPhone 7. Now you cannot even get a mandatory charger in the box! You literally cannot make the phone work without it! Gay Tim was the wrong choice by ailing Steve Jobs, to take over Apple. Yeah, he made it the richest company, but a corrupt company. I'd rather be able to sleep at night than have trillions in the bank, I just would. I know I'd feel good providing a good product at a good price to my customers. Their happiness would increase my own. Greedy bastards. They could still be very rich (though to a lesser degree, like 500 billion instead of 3 trillion!), but treat the customers right.

1) Don't buy any 8GB Mac unless it's a used M1 Air. 2) Don't buy a 16GB M3. Go for M3P or a refurbed M2P. 3) 15" Air feels a lot lighter than MBP than the numbers suggest. Screen is also much bigger despite being only 1" larger. Choose wisely! 4) If you're getting the 36GB M3P, you've already paid the Apple tax, so consider going for base Max. You won't regret it.
@minstrelca Жыл бұрын
Yeah I got a base max, and although I could have gotten an M3 pro base with 32GB (I want to have that.) it was only 500 ish more here in Canada for the upgraded M3 Max. There is a bit of remorse in that I could probably do what I do just fine on the base M3pro with 16GB, I just figured spending this much may as well treat myself lol. I technically could have gotten a cheap AIR + the M3 Pro base or 18gpu variant and had an extra computer for my other room :) Decisions haha. Oh well have until January to decide lol
@5GRobo Жыл бұрын
@@minstrelca You can keep the base Max for 3-4 years longer than a base M3P, and when it comes to your next upgrade, your resell value will be higher, so financially it makes sense assuming you need such a powerful machine. Now, if you think a 15" Air with 16 or 24GB RAM is all you need, then maybe go that route and in a few years upgrade to an OLED M4P Max and keep that machine for 6-10 years.

Upgrading from a 2019 Intel 13" MacBook Pro to the new 15" M2 Air with 16GB memory was a significant improvement for me. The larger screen, slim bezels, and extended battery life (3-4 days on normal usage without power saving) are standout features. As a computer science student, I find the M2 Air handles coding tasks effortlessly, without needing CPU-intensive capabilities. The device's silent operation and cool temperature during use are notable, given its fanless design. Despite the higher cost for larger screens, the M2 Air offers a good balance of screen size, performance, and price. It's more portable and sleek compared to the bulkier Pro models. For those using an Intel MacBook, upgrading to any M-chip model is a significant leap. However, if you already own an M-chip MacBook, the incremental upgrades may not be as noticeable for everyday tasks. I recommend opting for 16GB of memory and at least 512GB of storage, which in my case, totaled over $1700-still more affordable than the base 16" Pro at $2500. For those needing more ports, a multi-port adapter is a simple solution. Overall, the M2 Air is an excellent choice for both media consumption and general computing tasks, especially for those who prioritize everyday use over intense processing.

This is hands down one of the most useful and well done Mac comparisons I’ve ever seen. I have had six Mac laptops since my incredible M1 Air 13 (in this order): 16” M1 Pro (Slow - Too big) 16” M1 MAX (Slow - Too big) 15” M2 Air (Weak - Excellent size) 16” M3 Pro (Monster - Too big) 14” M2 MAX (Awful battery - Excellent size) 14” M3 Pro (11/14 M3 Pro chip) The last one (14” 11/14, 18GB, 512) literally puts a smile on my face after everything I’ve learned. For me, it’s perfect. For most, it’s perfect. For the other 5% of you, you already know who you are. The M2 Air 15 is my second pick. Battery life is extremely important to me and so is portability. Price is second. Performance is third (They all perform). The M3 Pro 14 has all these benefits over the M2 Air 15, for only $201 more: - Better battery life - 3 nanometer vs. 5 - 20% faster CPU cores - 1 extra CPU performance core - 2 extra CPU efficiency cores - 4 extra GPU cores - dynamic caching - ray tracing - mesh shading - AV1 Support (Video streaming efficiency) - Wi-Fi 6E - USB-C ports on both sides - fans for sustainability - a brighter/higher PPI screen - the most amazing speakers I’ve ever heard on a laptop (They’re far better than the M2 Air 15). Get the base 14 Pro chip (11/14) for the best battery life, and understand that the M3 Pro chips numbers don’t directly compare to the M2 Pro chips numbers. 11/14 is significantly faster and more powerful than the 12/19 found on the M2 Pro. The 12/19 M2 Pro 14’s battery life is awful in comparison to my M3 Pro 14. This experience cost me $10,000 to share with you. Skip to the front of the line and save yourself some time.

No. Mine does not get hot. Only warmth I feel when charging the battery :). I'm not pushing it to its limits, just a normal use. I have a 13" MacBook Air M2 and it is a really nice computer and used it more than I expected I would, but one issue for me is the 13" was hard for my old eyes to read at times. I thought about getting a MacBook Pro 14" and talked to Apple Sales if the 14" MBP would help me, they said no just stick with the 13" MBA. I work in music so sound is also something important to me. The M3 come out and I was thinking of getting one, but the reviews and configs weren't great and cost was high for the config I wanted for doing music. I found a refurbished 14" MacBook Pro with M1 Max chip and the same config as my desktop Mac and for less than a M3 MBP and I got it. First Apple Sales you were wrong the difference in the screeon the the MacBook Pro is amazing the text is easier to read and the colors so much more vibrant than the 13" MBA. Next the the speaker system on the MacBook Pro is the best I've every heard on a laptop. There are bass ports on the bottom of the MacBook Pro that really enhance the bass response. The MacBook Pro M1 Max is a big performance boost as well. So the MacBook Pro screen and speakers alone were worth upgrading to.

It will be more than capable, just make sure you get 16gb of ram. I got the M2 air 15 inch, I do programming and coding and it's great. I don't do anything with graphics at the moment but I am sure it will be more than suffiicient at whatever else you are doing. Trust me the air is so much nicer than the pro with it's slimmer prettier design. When it boils down, I'm sure the pro will only be a few seconds faster or less than the air depending what it is you are doing. If you travel a lot with your laptop like I do, you will not be disappointed. It really is a great machine and I'm a computer enthusiast, 15 inch air vs 16 inch pro is an insane price difference and I swear it gives plenty of power for what needs to be done, especially if you are coming from an intel mac.

Great Video! Still very satisfied with my space grey MacBook Pro 13“ 2020 with the i7, 4 TB SSD and 32 GB RAM…! That wouldn‘t be the case if I chose to „save“ money and bought the base line. 🍀

How does the M3 Macbook Pro compare to the M3 Pro Macbook Pro to the M2 MacBook Air when it comes to screen sharing/mirroring?

THANK YOU for this review. Literally the only one to answer my question of m2 air v m3 pro🙏🎉👋

I can get the m2 air with 16gb RAM and 1 TB storage for $1499 or the M3 pro with similar specs for $2199. I want it for music production and making cover videos. Would the Air suffice? $700 difference worth it? I’m not overly concerned with battery life or display. Just performance really.

I'm about to buy a MacBook Pro M3 base model, I’m not a heavy user, only use my MacBook for online Zoom classes and a little browsing. Do I need 16gigs ?

Not at all, 8 is more than enough for your purpose

While I would love to get a Macbook with the new chips. I just really hate that the SSD could die and once that happens the laptop is basically dead. And that had already happened to my 2017 Macbook Pro, and I was quited 1200 bucks just to get it replaced. I think the Applecare is really a must for these laptops, although it adds a lot of cost to an already expensive laptop.

I'm running a 14" M2 Max with 64GB RAM and honestly it's far more than I probably need for music stuff. These M3's are just insane.

I’d disagree I think releasing an 8GB model gives people an entry level MacBook product with more performance than they’d need for most people.

I guess it can be a difficult decision to upgrade from one laptop to another, but thanks to your timely testings and laptop comparisons, one can clearly see all the enhancements from one laptop to another even though they are minimal and pretty close enhancements from one laptop to another. I guess it would be ideal to upgrade to the newest and most enhanced MacBook laptop, but then again it all depends on what an individual is using the laptop for and don’t mind paying the extra price for a newer laptop when ready to upgrade to a new one. Another so good informative video between one Apple laptop to another. Thanks. Now, I can only wonder of your comparisons between windows laptops! 😍💃⭐️💎

Please help me, I am confused between Legion 9i and M3 Pro Max 36 GB 1TB varaint. I have no problem regarding the price, and both the OS are ok for me. I use a few VM for ethical hacking apart from these I program and also do video edits. Please recommend which one will be worth.

I'm hesitating between the M3chip and the M3Pro chip. I think the M3 chip would fit my needs but I really like the Space Black color and it fits my budget. However, I noticed some white lines linked to the use of the thunderbolts... Also, it has a 18hrs battery life, against a 22hrs one for the M3chip. What would you advise me to do? Thank you !!

That is literally my dilemma! I can’t decide between either the M3 and M3 Pro. I couldn’t find the M3 18GB on Best Buy so I’d have to pay regular price at Apple Store. 😩 What did you decide??

I still really don’t know, I’d better go for the M3 Pro but it’s battery life makes me doubt a lot. As for the color, I think everyone is amazed by this new feature but if it lets white stripes I don’t know if it’s a really good choice…

To get those declared 22hrs you need to use it in the specific conditions, which normal users rarely can achieve. In reality, you will have just a full day of working (up to 10hrs) on one battery and coming home you will just plug it into the socket. So, I wouldn’t think about MBP in context of marketing for battery life. They both last long for normal users. If decision goes between m3 and m3pro, and you have money, then m3pro gives you more performance wise. You will not notice it on the browsing the web, but as soon as you do something more heavier, the 6 performance cores on m3pro will show the difference compared to 4 performance cores on m3.

@@DroneWingsCZ That’s really interesting!! I was just wondering if, in the long run, the battery life between those two machines is gonna be significantly different? Cause I think having the best performance is great, when you can afford it but I don’t want to have to change my laptop in a few years because of battery issues…
@DroneWingsCZ Жыл бұрын
@@oceanelucas6469 battery life depends on how you charge and use it. Mac has ‘battery charging cycles’ measure which helps you to understand how much it is ‘tired’ over the time. To keep it longer you need to ensure you are not going lower than 20% on the battery before you start charging. My experience is that my laptop is around 60% of the time is connected to the external monitor via usb-c with Power Delivery technology, which provides the power from the monitor rather than using battery. With such setup, in one year of using my previous M1 Pro 14 inches it was fully charged only 65 times and I used it extensively daily (as an engineer). So, more performant cores will not kill your battery faster unless you are charging it to 100% and then draining to 0%. It will be comparable to less performant CPU.

If you had a Macbook pro 2020 would you trade it in for an M2 Macbook Air?
