I conveniently haven’t updated my iPad since 2018 and a first Apple Pencil, it also has cracked glass. In the end of last year I almost bought Air 5, but counted updates timings and considered it’s better to wait till the new version - and here it is, the one I’ll buy 🎉

great points.. and as usual- IPADS just gets more and more powerful without really having apps to use that power .. For an artist who does not do 3d rendering, but art like yourself- it seems unnecessary to upgrade.. unless you REALLY need the new rotating pen feature.. Looking forward to review!

​@@CozyChaletno, it isn't compatible. They just said the new apple pencil only work with the M4 iPad and the new iPad Air. It won't even work with the last gen of iPad pro. Yeah something to do because they moved the camera position and the position of the magnets

The most exciting part about this ipad event was that previous highly capable versions will see a big price drop and bump in base config of Air ( still 64gb for base ipad model though 🙄).But there's too much Unnecessary product segregation even for ipad accessories now .

iPad Air definitely provides more value for money. It's essentially the 2018 iPad Pro but with more powerful processor and no 120Hz.

nice work as always :) ive never really enjoyed sketching on iPads but the new one does seem tempting - my iPad Air, Pro and Mini were all acquired for the intention of daily sketcing but i just keep going back to my real sketchbooks and fountain pens! i have been using the remarkable 2 lateley and really love the feel and texture of the surface but its a bit laggy compared to the apple pencils. Will be spending a few hours in the apple store testing the new ones to see if theyre any good over the next few weeks. Looking forward to your full review of the m4 version :)

I prefer traditional media too because it's just more fun. I use tablet when I have to stand and sketch, where watercolour has difficulty drying, or when I just don't have time to clean up and pack up.

I think I'll wait for your review before buying one of these. I've been waiting for like over a year for this to come out. But I just want to make sure it's worth the price. And I want to see what the Nano texture looks like to see if it's even worth it

There isn't compelling reason to upgrade unless you really need the new features from Apple Pencil Pro. The new tablet does the same thing, but the new pen actually has new features that affect work.

The burning question for me are the placements of the magnets in the M4. Can a magnetic stand/mount for the 11 or 12.9 work for the M4 11 and 13.

both nano-texture glass and Paperlike screen protectors can affect the way light interacts with the screen, using them together could potentially worsen the effect on colors and black levels. If you're planning to use a screen protector anyway, the standard version might be a better choice.

I'm thinking the 13 inch iPad Air. The Pro seems overkill. Unless the OLED screen is a must have for Procreate / Adobe Fresco. Thanks.

Hi Teoh could you do a comparison between an iPad nano textured screen vs a normal ipad screen with a high quality matte screen protector. In both visual quality and drawing experience?

I'm not sure about the Nano texture. Is it like a screen protector so you wouldn't need a screen protector? Because if you have to put a screen protector over top of it, it already makes the screen look dull so it would make it look twice as dull if you have to put a screen protector on top of it.

Not sure. There are different amount of texture intensity. Smoother will degrade image quality less. Rougher has better texture but degrades image quality. Even without looking. I don’t think it make sense to get an OLED display to put a matte screen over to degrade the quality

​@@teohontech7141yeah I got more info on it now it's not a screen protector at all. It just diffuses light if like you work in the Sun a lot. So I don't think I'll get it because I plan to use a screen protector on it anyways. And the screen protector already protects against glare

I do not think the nano texture feature gonna age or review well. I personally just use Gorilla Glass to protect my device screens. Yeah I am waiting to see the reviews from other artist and then make a decision on a new M4 or get a M2 IPad Pro.

I kind of wanted them to make the iPad waterproof. Like Samsung you can like submerge it underwater and it's fine. I mean if you're buying the 1 TB one, it's close to $3,000 so they could have at least made it waterproof

If I want to buy this pencil and the ipad with nano screen thats about 3000 Canadian dollars. And I have no idea if this nano thing is even supposed to be for people to draw on. Imagine scratching this coating with your pencil...... I was looking to upgrade my 2017 ipad pro but none of this seems that enticing, especially when the apps I like using are created by solo devs who also work full time jobs so they barely receive updates(Like Toonsquid is awesome but the dev is busy with his job). Even Procreate seems to have full time developers but never really do anything beyond adding features locked to new ipads. It's been half a year and Dreams doesn't even have a lasso tool but they're showcasing this move and rotate timeline thing with the new pencil. I hope the new wacom Movink thing is good and they release a bigger version.

It’s just a cheap unbranded brim hat I bought at a local shop. Less than SGD or USD 10. There are ones which are waterproof and those are nice, but more expensive.

Only if you need the new Apple Pencil Pro features. It’s not upgrading just for the OLED or M4 unless you are loaded with cash.

4 pens and only the worst of them works with the entire iPad line-up. This is just compatibility madness. Just give us a USB-C pencil with pressure and tilt detection.

Galaxy S9 is dim and not color accurate so when you print the color is different; it also degrades fast. iPad pros are color accurate though

and no procreate in Samsung. mostly subscription based apps😢 in Samsung. Procreate and ProcreateDreams are cheap and one time payment only

@@PSy84 I've got to say that iPads definitely looks most colour accurate, but note that since it cannot be colour calibrated it is difficult to say that it is true colour accuracy.

Why apple? Its just not worth it. Samsung has been really improving and honestly these new ipads are not it. Also very disapointed on no ipad mini anouncement. Guess they really want to kill their only value ofering.
