The HDMI port is nice for a corporate environment. Most conference rooms have HDMI cables for projecting or using a large monitor on the wall. The 2021 14" Macbook Pro is my first and the M1 Pro has been a beast. I still don't feel there's a need to upgrade (M1 Pro, 32GB, 2TB). I won't lie, I'm tempted with the genuine increased in performance and battery life, matte screen and maybe switching from Silver to Space Black. I'm curious to see the redesign. 16" all the way. The 16” comes with a couple of bonuses: the display is larger, you will get more of that beautiful mini led display, the bezels look slimmer due to the ratios, the notch looks smaller for the same reason. The 16” gets a larger trackpad which is more convenient to use and the speakers are better giving richer sound. As far as battery life the 16” gets three hours more in terms of web browsing, and also gets a more powerful 140 watt power supply.

Well it's really simple. Do you want a portable computer you can use anywhere, or do you still want to stick with a desktop? Me personally, I believe Mac Os is more ideal on the go for it's compact and condensed nature. I would rather have a windows device for at-home use because it's capable of more configurations But if you already own several products from Apple (iPhone, watch, iPad) I guess buying the Mac Mini makes sense to complete the Apple ecosystem
@hardlydenegrade14 күн бұрын
my macbook pro arrived 3 days ago with the same spec you have and i can tell you compared to my old i7-960 gtx1060 setup to shame. The main reason I would say you should get the mac mini is how cheap it is, and if it already replaces the desktop you have, you can keep all the peripherals, something you pay for with a macbook. The roles switch with the M4 Pro where at barely much of a price bump you get a great keyboard+trackpad+display+battery. If you can i really recommend mac mini because it is really cheap but if you want a laptop go for it, just be warey its pricey

Maybe it's me, but I don't really get the "portability" argument as it relates to 14 inch vs 16inch MB. Coming from a mid-tier Windows 15 inch laptop, I never owned a Macbook in my life, I find both 14 and 16 inch MBs super portable devices. Additional 500 grams, 2 cm on top and 4 cm wider is supposed to make 16 inch not portable? Come on... both are super portable machines. I've looked at both devices in Apple stores on several occasions and for me the 14 inch is just too small, working on it long term would be much less comfortable than 16 inch screen.

Same here, i have intel 2019 16inc MacBook Pro, but it heats up something wrong with it and is not so fast any more, i was thinking to get MacBook Air 15inc love how thin it is, but i think i go for MacBook Pro 14, because of new M4 chip and beautiful display.

Same thing here, what do you think is a better option coming from a 16 in user, the 14 mbp with 24 gigs of ram and 1TB ssd or the base 16 with 512 ssd?

Still loving my 16" 2019 but thinking about holding out for the refresh

Still using my 2020 M1 MacBook Pro with the regular M1, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Maybe I'll upgrade once the M5 MBP comes out. At least, if the M5 is a 2 Nm processor and if there is a redesign. If the M5 is just more of the same, I might wait for the M6, which is at least 2 years away.

It's funny how blocks like the EU are forcing certain device manufacturers to USB-C, but not TV / Monitor manufacturers who are using HDMI, perhaps because it's a separate standard. However, I think it's yet another unnecessary standard like USB-B on printers. As an aside, I've been using a 16" M1 for a few years now and my opinion is it's quite portable and I prefer the larger screen real estate. I can't imagine using a 14" at this point.

Still deciding between 16 or 14

14. coming from a 16 user.
@bensuntivarakom59429 күн бұрын
@ I’ve used 14 for work and felt it was a bit small never had the 16, isn’t it better for battery life/performances etc? Thank you
@zp619 күн бұрын
@@bensuntivarakom5942 yes 16 has better screen, audio, performance, battery, etc. What I ended up doing is I got a mac studio (could also do a mac mini) for when i need performance/big screen/external speakers and then i use 14 mbp for everything else. But I understand not everyone can do that. I still think a 14" is the better move. A 14 can be hooked up to a bigger screen when needed, and personally i also use my over-ear headphones a lot. So if it's your main computer and no external speakers or nice monitor, then yea you could probably go for 16 - it's huge tho! that's the thing lol.

@@bensuntivarakom5942 what made me switch is i went to apple store to check out nanotexture and i ended up comparing 14 & 16 side by side. i made up my mind right there to switch from 16 to 14. so maybe check out a 16 in person.

I wish they could redesign the MacBook and have an optional version with separate num keys.

thanks for the review. convinced me to trade in my 2019 intel for the new MacBook Pro 2024. I will go 16" and less memory than you because of my regular use.

You'd think Apple would use Lithium Ion Phosphate or LFP batteries by now, they are superior in life cycles and can last 10x longer and will never burn or explode.

they should add nano texture to the iphone
@hacorn9614 күн бұрын
100% yes, that's the best approach. use the tool you have, until you can't. don't think about it until then. huge waste of time and money upgrading every few years and you still don't get the best deal anyway.

I have a 14 year old windows laptop that takes forever to update and boot up. I wanted to get the m4 pro Mac mini, but the store I was getting it at only has the base 256 storage one. They have all the MacBook pros, though. The m4 pro comes up to over $3000, so that’s out. Is the base m4 MacBook Pro with 16 gigs ram 512 storage good if all you do is use it for writing, web surfing and just use the apps that are already on it? And would the Mac last for years, like 8-9 if you don’t stress it out? And if you want, can you keep the A.I. turned off?
@drdudewin14 күн бұрын
Hell yeah, that's even overkill. As far as I know the m4 macbook pro compares to the m2 pro and even the base m3 pro, plus you have a solid build quality with very long-lasting battery. In 6 years time, you are likely to still have a good enough battery for a full day of normal web-browsing and enough CPU performance for any everyday tasks. This machine is built to easily operate modern complex tasks, you'll be good.

I have a buddy who has a MacBook he bought in 2010 and is still using it to this day. It works perfectly and he's happy. He is gonna buy one of the apple silicon ones though, he did tell me that. I have the (M2 Pro 16inch 32GB 1TB) and it's a beast. I'm not upgrading right now, I like my M2. As for you, ditch that windows laptop and get a basic (M4 14inch 16GB 512GB) for like 1500 dollars. You'll be happy with it. I haven't used windows laptop in a very long time.

Can’t you just order the Mac mini you want online? M4 pro starts at $1999. 1tb for $2,199. Each with 24gb of ram. Definitely not $3,000.
@j.j409014 күн бұрын
@ no. I can’t order it on line. It has to be at that store. As for the prices, those are American prices. In Canada, the m4 pro is $2699 base, and with the tax, it comes up to over $3000. The m4 MacBook Pro base is $2099, with the tax, $2400.
