If your using Photoshop for big projects like I do, 50-500 layers A3 size , depending on how big the undo/history file is, Photoshop has to write each version to RAM or Scratch disk, a few open 500MB file scan use 20-50GBs of Scratch. More memory is very important, I use 64gb M2 Max, there's another great channel 'Art is right' think its called, where he does tests with different ram and file sizes, and Photoshop flies with more. So I would recommend the most Ram you can afford if doing big Photoshop projects. PS love the channel!

I have the M3 Max with 48gb and 1tb of storage. Also doing multitasking with the apps mentioned except the 3D programs. And I’m waiting for this thing to slow down, but it never does. Getting more ram is only a psychological comfort, but in reality 48gbs is enough 🙌🏾

I only upgraded to 64 gb ram because I’m working with very large simulation meshes. I can use 128 gb but it’s too much money and I just do those jobs on a Linux vm on the cloud when needed for less money.

I upgraded from 64GB on my M1 Max to 128GB on my M4 Max and I dont't regret that at all. I have Premiere projects that uses as much as 85GB ram. It's been a huge upgrade for me at least. That's just my opinion.. And going from 1TB SSD to 8TB has been really nice also! If you work outside, I can recommend people to go for the silver color (and nano texture display), because it's a huge diffrence on silver and black color on the chassi is the computer is in the sun. The black color gets so hot compared to a lighter silver color. And I recommend EVERYONE to put on a screen protector, becuase the keyboard is giving the screen marks when travelling. That's my tips! Take it or leave it :)

Gamers Nexus just released their review. Major improvement, looks like it’s a bit better than the RX7600, and similar to the 4060 overall (trades places with it), but the 4060 beats it by a notable amount in some tests, and in power efficiency.

you forgot one of the main use cases for 128gb ram: AI, local LLMs (like Ollama, diffusionbee). Many local AI models cannot be run unless you have huge amounts of ram

I feel that if you are willing to spend $5,000 on tech in general, that 5k would be MUCH better spent on building a custom desktop PC. I understand if you are mobile in your work most of the time, but is this really worth the money? I just feel like for the 5k you spend on this 128GB M4 MAX you could literally build a custom PC that would outperform it, and STILL buy a really nice laptop. Just seems like a complete waste of the 5k. do we agree? would love to hear the alternative argument from someboday.
@gaiustacitus424212 сағат бұрын
It depends on the use case of the computer. In many cases, a Mac with M4 MAX or Ultra (when it ships) and maximum RAM will outperform a PC with similar specifications. Many graphics applications either run far better on the Mac or will not run reliably, or at all, under Windows for ARM.
@The_Imaginarium.11 сағат бұрын
I'm guessing you only have these two models to compare, so I totally understand why, but I think a more realistic comparison for most people would be the 24GB vs 48GB benchmarks.

10:26 no that’s not quite write , while 600 TB is the Guarantied coverage , a 1 TB SSD ( nowadays ) could write 1 Petabytes ( 1000x ) and Apple uses at lest (3000x ones ) so at lest for SSD you’d need to be writing a Huge amount a day before you’d actually see any derogation.

Do you have any issues on your M1 Max? Mine still works perfectly fast, also on After Effects.

@ nope ive had it with windows man wanna buy a mac. The deals I’m seeing on the m1 max are crazy. I could get m1 max 64GB of ram 1TB SSD for $1500 vs m4 pro that i would have to drop $2600 on to get it where i want it specs wise and it still wouldn’t have as much ram.
@mygameplayworld8 сағат бұрын
@@caydenpo1001 ah I see. I currently have M1 Max with 64GB RAM and 2TB SSD and I use after effects everyday without problems. Also do a lot of heavy video editing (4K Prores / MOV etc)
