Hi! I've question for you. I've got BMW Z4 2003, 2,5L. The problem is that when you push gas pedal hard, car accelerating, but when it comes to 3000 rpm engine goes to "emergency mode" (I don't know what is called, RPM jumps from 1000 to 1500 and back). If don't push gas pedal hard - it runs good. I've change intake pipe already and cleaned idle control valve. Errors shows - MAF sensor and idle valve. What would you recommend to do?

I have a 2005 BMW X5 which was throwing the 4X4 / brake /eml codes and going into limp mode. The suggested fix to try was to clean the idle control valve. Your video was excellent and very easy to follow. After cleaning the valve - and clearing the codes everything is running great! Cleared up a bit of a rough idle as well! This was especially helpful to me as I am in Mexico and finding a good mechanic with BMW experience is tough!

So my car would start in one tumble, but would die immediately, giving it some gas would help, but the moment you let off the gas, the car died immediately. I have the weird little 6 cylinder M52b20 in my e46, but the procedure was identical on my car. I removed the ICV and it looked clean, there didn't appear to be any real carbon buildup in it, but when I shook it, it was solid as a rock. Sprayed the crap out of it with Carb Cleaner, used damn near the whole can, it took quite a bit of spraying before it came loose, and the amount of crap lodged somewhere inside there that was locking it up was shocking for how clean it looked before. Your instructions are excellent, reinstall was a breeze, would be shocked if it took me more than 5 min for what I thought would be a daunting task. A little water on the fittings as lube goes a long way and makes it super easy to fit it all back together. This was the source of my problem, and your instructions fixed it. I don't think this car has ever idled this smooth, even when I bought it, I thought it was smooth before, it's ridiculously smooth now. Thank you so much man, you've saved me thousands of dollars and endless headaches, I'm so grateful, thank you.

I’ve recently cleaned my control valve and prior to removal and inspection, it’s surprisingly in a perfect condition the fact that mileage has reached 300 plus for a 2004. Bimmer Zeit: Thanks for the encouragement. The Disa, icu, and throttle body cleaning job went smoothly; though very time consuming. Would like to share my experience. 1. Disa: the o-ring is not really an o-ring, it's glued on, very tight. Therefore no official BMW part. Some after market vendor in EBay, but O'Reilley doesn't carry it. It's a pain to pick and scoop out the broken (easily) ring, as it split into small pieces. So easier would be to use gasket maker to paste over the existing (flattened) ring. 2. it would be easier to remove the icu with the inside boot removed first. 3. in my case to remove the inner boot hose (with the 2 screws turned downward) was really a pain and tested my patience and lots of time. 4. While at it, why not also clean the throttle body? Overall, it patted myself for a job well done!

Hello, could a dirty icv also cause an EML light and rapid idle and engine stalling? I was told it was crankshaft sensor, replaced that, but EML and loss of power still happens .

Why was the intake manifold and Disa so oily and greasy? Shouldn't be that way imho.
