On the military 6CTA8.3 engine, it comes with a Bosch MW injection pump. The "top" fuel adjustment screw is off-idle fueling, so this will add acceleration off the light, and smoke during such also. But it only affects this portion. The screw at the back of the pump with lock nut is the fuel rack travel limiter, this will adjust the total HP of the engine. A governor spring kit for a Dodge Ram 5.9L with a P7100 pump will fit this governor, and can be used to raise RPM above the stock 2200rpm limit. The MW pump is only good up to about 300hp, and same with the aftercooler used on this engine. To target 400hp, one would need to switch to a Bosch P-7100 pump, a larger HX-50 turbo, and front mounted charge air cooler. Could also switch to an ISL engine from an RV or firetruck, as it is the same dimensions and bolt pattern, yet has stock ratings up to 400-450hp. A guy on SteelSoldiers is making that swap, along with a 13 speed Road Ranger transmission into his 5 ton.

FormulaBoat I screen shot your comment. Good info for my build. Question is? Can I see 450HP with an 8.3? Marine grade injectors, P7100, 3200# gov springs and can I use a HX50-HX55 turbo?

P7100 fuel pump and a HX50 turbocharger is what I used on my M931A2 for 450 HP/1,200 TQ.The HX50 unlike the HX40 delivers 35 PSI,and is used on the M11.

Me and a friend made the exhaust in the shop. Just went to the parts store and got the pipe. Took the plug out of the top of the pump and gave it about 2 3/4 turns on the screw.

I never liked when they switched the exhaust behind the cab always thought that the ones with the stack on the left front fender made them look meaner also when the went to the squarish front they runined the cool factor but this is just an opinion.
@Retired88M4 күн бұрын
Too many guys got disability from the exhaust noise that’s why it was put behind the cab. The old M35’s used to have the exhaust piped out between the tandems on the right side but were switched to the right fender mount due to to many complaints from people in the curb side

Daily Driven Diesels we had some boats in Diego Garcia that ran Cummins M11’s and they were loud and rolled coal. Whenever we’d go ashore they’d bring them to our ship and back them against the hand hold it with constant thrust while we climbed on. It’s sounded amazing echoing off the ship

The stack is cheater cut to shit. How hard is it to cut some pie slices if all you have is straight pipe or just order a few bends from vibrant? Not very that’s how. Take some pride in that, and if your going to go though that much work you might as well do it rite. I make turbo kits for a living and would be embarrassed to ship that out.
@andrewhomann66843 жыл бұрын
This whole truck was $3500 and I made whole exhaust out of a piece of straight pipe that was laying in a barn. There’s a time and place for expensive exhaust and this isn’t one of them. No embarrassment here. I’m not shipping anything out
