I'm currently reading a wikipedia article about the brother islands in New Zealand at 00:46 while listening to this. Tomorrow I have to go to school. I hope I'll remember this moment.

@@adrianalonso1325 The chrysalis and the shattering of my gaze in front of the immense variety of my wardrobe My coat is home to flies, a lively hive. An impatient fly lands on my nose: "It's late" I finally open the wardrobe, like the gates of an ancient temple. I slowly put my body inside, like an exhausted caterpillar. A chrysalis of golden strings. Dreams of storms and deep days. crutches, dripping with sprouts, carry my future clothes, hanging from the fragile twine. The day will come to harvest one, like a ripe fruit.

I've always appreciated this version of goodbye a little more than the for long tomorrow version.

Can I ask why? This is my first time hearing this version. Just curious about what it is about this one for you. Ooo this version is interesting. Wooooowww it’s almost like a whole new song!!! The bass is a lot more prominent too. I feel like this one is mixed really well. Like the drums aren’t as closer to the front as the other version but they still shine through the other instruments nicely.
@lMlusashi3 жыл бұрын
@@evanho4538 one reason is simply that the music video is this version and that was my introduction to both this song and toe, but also i think since they got a featured vocalist, it makes more sense to make the vocalist a bit more prominent in the mix, so bringing the vocals forward in the mix, some of the tonality needed to be sacrificed from the instrumentation. with this, it's just one of the guitarists singing, so they can bury the vocals more and let the instrumentation take a bit more priority. i actually felt the drums were more forward in this version, had a bit more oomph.

@@lMlusashi I also constantly listen to the live version of it way more than the other studio version. You know which one I’m talking about? And of course that version’s sounds are all over the place for obvious reasons. So I guess I’m coming from a different frame of reference sonically. The high end on the guitar for sure is definitely toned down a bit in this version right? Not as twinkly. I do also like his vocals a nudge more rather than the chicks. I mean I love every version of this song don’t get me wrong. 😂 But like as you said with his vocals buried more into the mix AND there’s something a little more melancholy and tragic about his tonality that brings a different vibe fs. And although maybe the song could do without it, the vocal stacking to bring out the humming part felt like the right move. Otherwise it would’ve just been drowned out by the symbols probably. Sorry about my little essay there. Just got high and listening to it again. Lol

@@evanho4538 there's another song of the singer, toki asako, with toe on one of her albums that i always forget about but like a lot. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZvVcneAm8mEpas but yea, for goodbye, i definitely prefer his vocals.

@@lMlusashi damn dude the song you sent is fire 😂 the drums are so tight and I love the little synth. Then the bridge hit super hard. Easily will listen many more times.

Si te interesa saber de donde viene este tipo de sonido (ahora muy en auge en varios grupos japoneses), sobre todo la matriz ritmica, investiga las origines del "math rock". Slint "Spiderland" (1991), Shellac "At action park" (1994), Don Caballero "Don Caballero II" (1995), Tortoise "Millions now living will never die" (1996).
