Definitely best for creatives/designers to be AT LEAST comfortable, familiar, and able to use both if you are working a corporate gig because often you have no idea what equipment they are going to supply you with. I use PCs these days professionally but if I took a new job and was given a new Macbook to use, I would be fine because of my background using Apple devices for years.

I've never used an Apple device. I worked freelancing with my windows pc doing UI and print design. 4 months ago I got hired by a company and was assigned an iMac. the first day everything seemed so strange, I first noticed how weird the mouse was, I think it made my hand feel short. having to close a window I found myself looking for an X at the top right and found it opposite. o many things that made it hard to adapt. I got a Logitech mouse instead but one thing I love about Apple products is the Display.

After a few months it will kick in... PDF backed in, image editing, screen shots, office like tools, phone integration, never having to reboot or shut down, no performance issues 6 months from now, keys/palmrest won't rub off, trackpad is awesome, spaces/mission control is awesome (especially for music in the background), endless battery life,, no paid updates for OS/office like tools... And if you're a dev, unix under the covers. They are pretty awesome. If there was something better I'd get it, but there isn't.

Same! I’ve been editing with windows and adobe for 5 years now. I was hired to create ads for a company last year and was assigned a 2017 Mac. It was kinda weird at first but I love the Ui. I really hated the Magic Mouse though and only used my Logitech mouse at work. I still perfer windows but windows 11 is a bit buggy still, might consider a change in the future when it’s time to upgrade just because Mac Operating system seems more stable from my experience. Kinda weird but my favorite thing about windows is how the folders are organized.

I would unquestionably say this is true except 1 particular area. 3D work especially in Unreal Engine. Getting a PC with a 3080+ card is hard to contend with performance wise. Apple is getting there with their new M1/M2 CPUs, but there are times where more is needed and the app you use MUST make use of metal. But, it will literally add to your power bill, pumps out head like a sun, you have to deal with windows crap, and so on. I have both, PC for 3D, Mac for everything else.

I’m wondering why people use Airdrop last few years that most apps are online. Even the apps that are offline are those that are really power hungry and better done on a desktop.

Hello, I hope you are well, dear I am a graphic designer; Most of my work is with Adobe software, and I recently entered the world of 3D and Blender I bought a laptop with these specifications a few months ago asus tuf dash f 15 fx 517 with cori 7 12650; RAM DDR 5 4800; ssd 512 nvme; 8gb rtx 3070 Due to the poor screen it has for displaying color, I attached my screen to it Do you think it is reasonable for me to sell it and get a Mac mini m2pro 10 cpu and 16 gpu? Do you think I will get a more powerful device with this move? Thank you for helping me

I'm a lifetime PC/Windows laptop owner. I've used Macs here and there before, but never owned one personally. Because I'm seriously getting back into photography, editing, projects, etc- I just ordered my first MacBook Pro ever 🙈🙈. I have an iPhone, an iPad I use sparingly. Never had an Apple computer before. Hopefully I like it 😅....all else fails, I can get something else 🤷‍♀️.

I was debating on the two, but at the time a few years back, I decided to go with a M1 MBP because of the color accuracy. I'm glad I did because the pc color grading is different for my teams who use PCs. I also find that since apps like figma are native to MacOS, i find that the functionality is better, certain features and placement are available to mac users over pc users, but that's just my opinion. I don't use a PC mostly because the interface was never really as seamless. The screen size was often a lot smaller. and if I went with a bigger screen, the computer itself tended to be cheaper. PCs often tend to crash a lot to, and UI/X is stressful enough sometimes, to then have to worry about a computer crash is not something I had time for. with the M1, I don't have any fan issues, crash issues, and I will be in figma, wordpress, and WIX for HOURS.

When it comes to color, yeah it feels really nice to design on a superior monitor, but at the end of the day I don't think it matters that much. That's because your average user will most likely have a janky miscalibrated monitor or just use their phone.

I like that this video started off with a disclaimer that peope should use whats best for them. A+ for that. Here is my issue with Macs: They seem speedy at first because of how the system is locked down and the "walled garden" ecosystem of Apple is "safe". The problem is, as a graphic designer that also does video editing and 3d rendering, Mac is not a viable option. A $700 windows PC gets far more performace for my tasks than a Mac can, and Windows (even though im not a big fan of Win11) is way more customizable for my workflow and saves me tons of time. The amount of money and effort id have to spend optimizing a Mac for that workflow would cost me at least a thousand extra dollars, which could be much better spent of peripherals and expanded storage. The biggest differnece between Windows and Mac nowadays is that windows allows you to do what you want, where Mac shoehorns you into doing things the Apple way, which is a complete dealbreaker for me. Macs arent without thier benefits, but there just simply arent enough to compensate for the massive price difference.

Not very up-to-date regarding the price point. I am currently using a 14" m1 macbook pro (16GB RAM) I bought for around $1500. And it will be much more efficient than either laptop in this video, with battery that lasts forever. Just ditch Intel and go with a refurbished M1 laptop. It's the best deal on the market right now.

Thats a (Myth) I believed until two MacBook Pro screens broke down unexpectedly. While my 2017 Lenovo yoga was still kicking. I was using Lenovo roughly because I didn't pay premium but I petted my MacBooks. 2017MBP screen stopped working in 2019, I bought 2019MBP the same thing happened in 2021 while the Lenovo is looking beat up and can still perform very well. I don't know when you last used a premium device that runs Windows like XPS, Zephyrus, Spectre and the best Surface from Microsoft.
