I have a similar mac, but it does not detect Slot 1 card. Can I exchange the cards? (Slot1/Slot2) to rule out damage to the flex or connector?

can you maybe modify the vBios to undervolt the gpu and underclock it slightly in order to reduce the amount of stress on the chip? it works on iMac 4xxx to 6xxx gpus

Hello. I am trying to reball the chip but I can not find the correct stencil. By any chance do you know what is the stencil to use? Or do you have the part number of the GPU replacement? Mine says "215-0854045" but I cant fin anything. Thanks!

I don't think you can buy that. You should use one if you already have one. You may find something on eBay as well.

Ive been digging thru the depths of the internet trying to find and answer, with no luck. Maybe you can be a beacon of light. I updated mac os on my mac pro 6.1 a week ago, it was fine for several days. One day I did some video editing, rendered off a video and later in the night shut down as normal. When I booted back up the next day, no signal from HDMI on my monitor. Tried diff cables and even plugged in an old mac LED monitor via mini display port, with nothing. So either its a software/driver issue, but how am I supposed to even reformat a mac without seeing the screen? or the GPU has incidentally failed. If you have any words of wisdom on what to try or do, I would be eternally grateful. Cheers Lonesome Dog

Hi there! yes you are suspected to have a bad GPU, because youre not having any display showing through the TBT ports/HDMI. temporary fix would be putting the GPU inside the oven or reflow the GPU chip as we did on 2:45

You need to do a compute benchmark otherwise you cant tell if the GPU is faulty or not. It seems to work fine until the OS makes a compute request. The faulty GPU will work fine forever if compute is not requested at all but if its faulty, the computer will crash when compute is requested. This is totally irrelevant to CPU operations or 2D GFX.
