In this video, I revisit Ben Lomond. I’d done this one 2 or 3 times before, but it’s most often at least year or so in between visits. As a result, I genuinely forget what it’s like to ride. In this case, it was way more relentless and enduring than I had chosen to recall. It was however, longer and better built than I remembered too.
I was joined, as I often am, by Piers, but we did meet a fellow biker near the top called Paul, and he joined us for the descent👍

We attempted Ben Lomond on our hard tails 25 years ago and made it to the bottom of the second steep climb after the plateaux before the weather forced us back down. We were virtually cycling back down a river. I got several punctures also which didn’t help and ended up cycling the last bit on the rear rim. Fond memories.

Inspired by this video, I did Ben Lomond on Friday on the way up to Fort Bill. Well worth the climb, probably one of, if not the most technical ride I’ve ever done. It was amazing and a real confidence booster after I lost my mojo and struggled to find it again. Combined with Glentress on the Thursday I finally feel like I’m back where I should be on my bike 🙌🏻

Excellent, you took it much faster than me, did my very first Ben Lomond few weeks ago having never so much as even tried a black trail before, but loved it, I agree it’s much harder on the down hill than expected. I took my time but I know the bike can handle the speed, just my own self preservation held me back lol, it’s relentless indeed, I cycled up most of it on the e-bike which was great fun, but it’s not so much fun putting 27kg bike on your back at the tricky bits, I took a few grass detours to avoid some of the nastier drops. Enjoyed your vid reliving my decent. Cheers bro
