Woah man... That speed, that volume of descent and the sheer skill demonstrated by you and your mate are absolutely mind blowing. Way beyond what I will ever be capable of. But also not what I desire from riding bikes. Mental man. Absolutely mental.

Mind blawing stuff Andrew. I could never imagine anyone being faster than you 🤯. Quote; "Some very fit ladies". Yes I just had to pause the video at that point to calm down because my heart was racing. And then it increased even more so I restarted the action. Top video. Loved it. Cheers. Stoozer. 👍🏻

The fact that you're posting this means you ultimately survived the experience! This looked ace, though, Andrew. Some of it reminded me a lot of the lower stages of the Mega-avalanche from videos I've watched over the years. I'm heading to the Mont Blanc area with the lad in 6 weeks but ropes will be involved this time, not bikes.

I'm only halfway through and I have to stop and say -- hell yeah Andrew, that's some great riding. The youngster is fast, skilled, fit and rides like a bunny rabbit and speedway/drift racer combined. You are punching it on those climbs, he rides for a living and then some. The "up up up up" encouragement is very cool of him, you might've been feeling demoralized but hey Andrew he's young fit fast and a professional. One thing I notice seeing where he pulls away, apart from sheer downhill pitches, is that he's in very early on every turn and rise/drop feature. And he weights/unweights very smoothly, deceptively smoothly, even though he also is a flicker with drifty berm whacks. It reminded me almost instantly of the section in Steve Jones's "Fundamentals" DVD where he talks about sight lines, taking in obstacles visually, and doing it early enough that you are comfortably "done and dusted" with the necessary technique by the time you have got there. It's already in the past, where your conscious activity is concerned. Whenever I've been behind a fast pro that's how it felt to me. They were "finished with" a turn or big obstacle by the time they hit it. They aren't responding to it. They're so "done with it" by the time they get there, they can play on the feature. Jackson Goldstone's Val di Sole run in the semi was like that. And you are doing some fine riding following that speedy young lad here.
@McTrailRider Жыл бұрын
Great observations mate! I largely agree with what you're saying. I learnt so much following Matthew over the three days, and my biking improved faster than I could handle. A lot of it is down to reading the trail fast and simply speeding up the thought process to deal with the physical speed. Jackson had such a composed and clinical style, I could watch him ride all day. Matthew is very similar👌
@seanoneil277 Жыл бұрын
@@McTrailRider I bet you took your riding to a new level after those 3 days. I've only had runs, or parts of runs, behind pros. But seeing their info processing speed is almost more impressive than watching their skills in bike handling. Those trails on Day 1 were a lot like the alpine trails near me. Steep narrow and exposed. Not easy to leave the brakes alone. Good front tire contact feel can be tough when things are steep & fast! Thanks for sharing this one.

So is the over all time of a stage based on the leaders starting time and the followers finishing time? Not quite grasping how a duo enduro works
@McTrailRider Жыл бұрын
So only one person has the timing chip and it’s manually scanned at each end. The person scanning at each end will only scan if both riders are together. You can see the person waiting to scan until I get there at the end of some of the stages.
