Whinlatter is a great trail centre...rides are both very natural and exciting and the views are stunning particularly from the top of the south loop !! Expensive parking but goes towards trail maintenance and the cafe is outstanding...its a great family day out with interesting walking trails and high rope courses.Go and enjoy...yeh great Video and riding skills again Andrew 👍

I grew up in the Lakes and live in Edinburgh now. I can honestly say you'll love the descents in the Lakes. As good as any Munro. For starters, try Grizedale Pike in to Hobcarton End Decent. Easy to access from Whinlatter South Loop. Best in the dry. Enjoy.

Skiddaw and Ullock pike if you want to be scared silly and the best views. Best for a weekday though... Whinlatter has moments of brilliance, alas, just moments. Best on ebike I imagine so the transitions aren't so aggravating. Great vid.

I'm a regular lakes visitor too and also describe it as a compressed Scotland! Stavely 3 pass and Loughrigg loop are good days out. There's a climb (hike a bike) on the 3 pass route (up to Nan Bield pass) that would be tough with an e-bike though

Good stuff Andrew. Be good to see you riding some lakes routes. Whinlatter is good fun, but there are some bigger more technical routes that will suit your riding skills more. Garburn pass and Borrowdale bash and Skiddaw are worth a look 👍

I had a disaster the first time I went as the whole South Loop was closed. I'd like to get back, especially in the dry. You weren't kidding about the rock being slippy... I've ridden grippier ice sheets 🤣 Thanks for the vids Andrew. A great start to 2023. P.s. if you ever fancy a Friday adventure to the Lakes feel free to give me shout. It's our favourite trail centre, but they need to eradicate those muddy bloody puddles! It needs some work now, off piste is good and steep in places! Have a go at Grizedale Peak in summer, that's epic. 5 hr round trip for us from York, so don't get there so often now.

Over a year ago I set myself a “Top Gear” challenge on my Trek Rail 9.8 625wh….how many laps on one charge. I managed 4 laps of the North ans 1 lap of the South….great fun

You should give langholm a go on your way down to the lakes one day. Should be rite up your street. Topdog and star dog are our longest trails. But have 4 shorter trails.

The atrocious weather you mentioned and your inspiration finally got me to get myself one, too. Since you mentioned GoPro settings, it would be really great to get some tips from an actual pro on how you typically manage to capture the footage you do so well, particularly also when the lighting conditions are so tough in winter.

Whinlatter is gd to blow the cobwebs off. Have a go at the borrowdale bash. Going to be doing it again soon. Wasdale loop is gd but alot of the best rides are down south lakes. Some gd enduro trails in dent forest near cleator moor

There's so much potential in Whinlatter, it should really be Englands version of Glentress. It's a shame forestry England don't seem to want to invest in it, I suspect as long as it's good enough to fill the car park there's no incentive to expand it.

Trail centres are always one direction unless it specifically says (I can’t think of one but you never know!) Fools on ebikes can be a problem though.

Love Winlatter, was my first UK trail centre after 3 years of riding natural single-track in Cornwall when I first got back into MTB after a 20 year break. I think its incredibly well made trails and, as you said & found, can be ridden in any weather. 👍🏼😁🤟🏼

The newest GoPro is excellent overall, but I too, do not like the new hyperview. This video was actually shot on the dji action 3 with an external mic plugged in.

Whinlatter is my favourite (at least, accessible for a day ride for me in England) trail centre, as unlike many, you do still get a proper feeling of 'elevation' and that your still doing actual Mountain Biking. Looks like at kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaLLm6GMZtSLfck they've done a bunch of improvements since last time I was there too. Looking forward to seeing where you ride in the Lakes over 2023 as doing some proper big hill stuff is my aim this year. Scotland is too far for me to use your videos as guides, but the Lake District is definitely not!
