Great video. Very helpful and I completed putting the new screen on my MacBook Pro. Looks as if brand new. One suggestion is when your putting the lcd back on make sure the lcd flap is up or else u will have to unscrew everything again to get it.

Actually the new top case didn’t have the Touch ID button so I tried to take it from the old one - but it doesn’t seem to be working; there’s no ‘press’ feel to it and it doesn’t power on

Couple of subtleties here: Notice the clean, I recommend soft white working surface to catch fallen screws. I used a king-size pillow cover. Bright light and clear if not magnified vision. I use 2.5 lens for reading, I bumped it up to 3.0 to be sure. I used an 18 space egg carton to keep all the screw tidy. I wrote on small pieces of paper the driver used and the screw location. Screwdrivers must be magnetized, the WiFi antenna screws are remarkably small. Remove the plastic hinge covers before removing the WiFi antenna as was corrected in the video. Note these cover lips will slide under the frame when reinstalling. As stated in the video, nothing is forced and be aware of cross-threading of the screws. I was able to attach all six hinge screws with the laptop open at about a 45 degree angle which helped considerably. I chose a refurbished apple screen as comments on the eBay/Amazon screens showed a tendency to be dimmer than the original. These 65 year-old eyes need all the help they can get.

agree great video, I transferred the screen from another machine that had water damage to motherboard. on finishing the transfer the laptop did not power up at all? Process went well - coud this be because the screen from old PC also had water damage - would this stop laptop from powering up?

Great video! I successfully changed the screen on my 2159. It would of helped on reassembly for you to say what tool bit is used, like you did during disassembly. Had to do some backtracking for that. Those 12 super tiny screws that held the wifi antenna on were very difficult for my 65 year old eyes!

If the clipper broker off, that is not good. It needs a PRESSED down pressure from clipper to get ribbon cable output display.

You would have a much easier time removing the antenna if you remove the hinge covers before removing the antenna and putting the hinge covers on after antenna is inserted.

Kudos. Not subscribing because I hope my son never breaks his screen again. One can hope. I did break one of the antennae cable connectors on the board itself. Taped that one down, but not expecting perfect antenna behavior. The good news is it works well enough. Those things are always a pain, and this is so small as to be extremely difficult. And I was using a workshop magnifier. Trying to bend back into shape with a soldering blade and snap. My son will have to get close to the wifi router.

Hello - I’ve an issue of damaged screen and I need to reset my password using Apple ID through recovery window on MacBook Pro 2016 16 inch. The recovery view of utility window shows up on the damaged laptop screen and not on extended monitor. If I remove the display connection only , without removing battery and Wi-Fi, will that transfer entire display on extended monitor, enabling me to see recovery screen and reset password

That will not work. Removing laptop screen does not give you the recovery screen on external monitor. Try press CMD + F1 That is the duplicate screen mode short keys for mac. You might need to use external max keyboard. Or try your best to imagine the window, click and drag that recovery screen to external monitor.

Hello, I've changed the screen on my MacBook Pro 2019 A2159... Something very weird is happening, during the iOS installation and until the iOS booting the brightness is normal and high but once the iOS boots the dim goes so low and I can barely see the desktop even if the brightness if full on! I think apple detects not original parts during the boot and doesn't let them work properly. Anyone knows any solution? I ve tried to reset the PRAM but same issue, starts good but then... brightness super low... I am freaking out!!!

After replacing screen, I noticed the screen closes easily and doesnt hold firm when opened. Do the hinges adjust so that when it closes, it can be firm and not just flap down like its lightweight. The screen does not wobble, I know it's not the 6 screws that hold the hinges.

Not the 6 screws. More likely you need to take the screen out and tighten the nut on the hinge.
