This cover all angles. So many customers have replaced their screen without disconnecting the battery, and it ends up coming to me. Very informative, I approve.

@@dimitrismaster There are approx 8,054,997,630 humans on earth, your lights would stay on even if 0.000002% of people who don't know their stuff visit you in a month. So I'm really not fussed.

Hey. Always love the content. Really cool to watch your business grow. You may already know this and didn't bring it up in your video, but just for good practice, I have found it valuable to check ambient light sensors, microphone, camera and brightness levels before reassembly. Sometimes, you can get a new lid assembly in which one or the other may not work. Good to weed those out before finalizing.

That's a good shout. I must confess I usually don't do the extensive testing, but so far have only been caught out by one bad webcam. It's a habit I ought to get into though!

According to the Apple engineers I’ve talked to, all those screws are, “to improve wireless communication”. Take that for what it’s worth as I agree there are too many.

Hey! I happen to have a MacBook 15,4 with display issues so I'm glad you're going over this. From my experience of macbook repairs, things look similar to each other so gathering experience in this type of repair is valuable. Thank you!

One thing to note on any of the Macbooks I've found from 2017 onwards is that some of the LCD's from eBay, Replacebase etc seem to brand them as OEM but they're not. Because of this, the T2 chip stops the ALS from working which also controls the keyboard backlight etc. Only way to get around that was to get the LCD replaced by a genuine Apple retailer or the Apple shop themselves.

Done watching, thank you very much for the informative tutorial video on replacement of laptop displays. I have learned significantly more troubleshooting & repair lessons in this tutorial video and to your other repair videos as well compared to my ENTIRE 4 YEARS OF COLLEGE EDUCATION. I hope you will soon have a mini-series for Schematic & Boardview-free Voltage/Power Rail Tracing[12V/18-20V Main Voltage Rail, 5V, 3.3V, CPU/GPU Core Voltage Rail, DRAM Voltage Rail, IGPU Voltage Rail, System Agent/Northbridge Voltage Rail, PCH Voltage Rail, BIOS Voltage Rail, Battery Power Rail], Proper method of testing/checking of potentially faulty MOSFETs & ICs/Controller Chips, CPU/GPU/PCH Reballing and BIOS Bin File Editing.

It's easy to assume that Apple has strengthened or revamped at least two departments: mechanical engineering (lamination) and chemical engineering (plastics injection). I am not their fan but I will not deny their merit either. Thank you very much for sharing. Excellent content. When I save the word file I will indicate critical training in parentheses. All the best.

I can confirm that the screen turning weird colors during a peel is caused by electrostatic build up. Not Mac specific, but in general, and it can (theoretically) damage the display driver ic if its not properly shielded. This is why good quality peels are made from ESD safe plastic.

They put so many types of screws on that display and cable connectors but you need to arrange the display with the hinges to be aligned, too expensive for cnc machine to make some good holes for hinges before you put the screws, apple design :)).

Grapham, I'm a computer tech in Atlanta Georgia. i just had a customer bring me the same mac book with a broken screen. While I could PHYSICALLY change the screen, i declined the repair because starting with the M1 units, the screen is serialized to the logic board and all features would not be available after replacement. Please comment. Neal

I know this is the case for some of the latest ones coming out, but my understanding was everything up to the very latest could still be done? I've done several M1 MacBook Airs without problem at the very least...

Apple did just recently announce that users can run the configuration update, without needing to call Apple first. Simple step to do.

How do you solve the issue of the machine not sleeping when the lid is shut anymore after screen replacement? I tried multiple replacements.
@DumahBrazorf
@DumahBrazorf Жыл бұрын
The lid sensor should be on the motherboard not on the screen. Use a metal object and pass it on the edge of the screen until it trapped by a magnet. That's where the lid sensor is on the mainboard. Check from crap/corrosion in that area.
@Adamant_IT
@Adamant_IT Жыл бұрын
I've not run into this problem myself. Does it sleep with the original screen attached? [Edit: I'm assuming this isn't one of the latest models where we're starting to see serialisation of screens]
