Zollotech. Thanks for the instructions! Followed it to a 'T' and I am now writing this review on my repaired MacBook Pro. The only trouble I had was reconnecting the three cables as shown at 3:08 ...that was a little cumbersome. But with a little patience and perseverance, I got the cables reconnected. I found it easier to have the MacBook back at a 90 degree angle when putting the replacement display in place. All together, it took me about 45 min. Thanks again.

I've used this to swap screens on Retina Pros and yeah, it's a great guide, very informative. I often get them in stock to sell so I do a "good/better/best" thing where ones with scuffed screens get paired with scuffed keyboards/cases and then the nicest screens go on the cleanest machines. Gets around that super common problem a lot of these have which is screen delamination, which I believe even on the last 2015 Retina Pros Apple don't cover for free replacement any more.

I came here considering helping a friend with a borked display. I'm VERY impressed with the presentation, and the time saving video production techniques. Your narrator is great, and the microphone and camera choices are spot on. Having watched this, I know that it's cost prohibitive but now I won't bother looking into the replacement parts that list at less than $100. I suspected as much, now I won't waste any time. My friend's MBP probably won't get repaired. C'est la vie. My choices are informed by a terrific video. I'm a subscriber now. Great job, gang.

Just replaced the display of an early 2015 13" MacBook Pro. This was very helpful. Only difference is two additional screws needed to be removed next to the hinges before the screen can be separated from the computer body. Took about 30 minutes for a first timer. $360 for the screen and $11 for the tools. Good as new.

If anyone has a half broken screen: go to settings on Mac and dock settings and move the dock to the side that isn’t cracked. Get a program called “spectacles” on safari google spectacles for Mac. Then look up how to add more icons for the top toolbar so you can move the useful icons like WiFi, Bluetooth, search, clock and stuff. You can move them by holding command (the “cmd” button next to the space bar)and click and drag the icons like WiFi search clock to the side of the screen that isn’t broken.

Thanks for great dock tip. Power cord connector was in MacBook when it closed and it damaged about half of display. Everything works, Can use right half to 3/4 of display at times, mostly half, move the dock to right side thanks your tip and now work with screen area little wider than my iPad. As for replacing the screen. I can replace this whole 2015 Mac Pro for less than $200 and just swap the hard drive now that I see how easy it is to get at it.

For anyone on a budget, simply getting a secondary monitor may be your best bet. You can get a good for for less than 200 bucks. The replacement and repair prices are so high that you really should just get a whole new / used MBP that works. 3rd party shops charge at least 500 and this screen plus tools is 670. I got mine used for about 850, but dropped it an cracked 1/3 of the screen. The downside of a second monitor is obviously lack of mobility, but it's better than putting nearly 700 into an 850 machine for me.

Great video. Nice to see someone with a decent voice, acting ‘normal’ and not trying to sound like a ‘bad voiceover’ type - who is intelligent. Aaron - quick question. My MacBook Pro is the 2017/2018 model. There seem to be extra ‘clips’ between the screws on the back case. A couple of them popped loose but there seem to be s couple more that are holding the rear panel pretty strong. I don’t want to bend the rear case - any suggestions? Max Again - excellent video!👍🏻

I just knocked my husband's 2015 17 MBP off the table with my knee and broke the screen. I don't think I could do this, but it's still less to get it fixed at a store than to get a new one, especially with all of the stuff currently on it. Love Macs and have no thoughts about going back to a PC laptop by choice (work is a different story).

The screw I used is 1.5STAR for 10 screws on the back cover, T5HEX for two small screw on the hinge and T8HEX for 6 slightly bigger screw on the hinge. All of them are from JakeWay JM-8126 that can be bought for ~12$

Thank you so much for making and posting this how-to video. I just finished replacing the display on my 2015 15" MacBook Pro. I wanted to add a couple of points... The only Pentalobe tool I needed was a P4 as the rest of the screws are Torx and I already had those. Also, slightly loosen the last two screws before you open the laptop to make it easier to take them out. I found that I had to open my display as far as it would go (more than the 90°) for it to separate from the body so you should probably do that before you remove the last two screws.

Great video. Just replaced my screen due to antiglare delamination - which Apple would not replace bc I was outside the 4-year window from purchase. Only issue I struggled with was connecting the tiny middle metal connector. It had to be perfectly aligned.

Hey, I am Akash, I am from India. My macbook pro model A1502 got damaged due to water. Intially it was working just fine so I thought that the water didnt seeped inside. But now, half of the diplay is completely damaged, there are continuous horizontal lines on the screen, and the screen is flickering continuously. where's the best place to get the tools? on my second set from the highest price sets on Amazon and they are all junk... stripping out a star screw and drilling it out means new bottom. Guess buy a new bottom with your screen :)

Missed the bit where you physically attached new hinges with base computer. My New assembly had similar aligned brackets flush with screen but I need to turn them 90 degrees to fit in my computer base, looks like you have Retina Display mine is a Unibody and have to drop in hinges?

I spent $415 on a top assembly for a late 2013 MBP 15". I suppose the price didn't change much within 2 years. And about $415, I didn't spend all my own money on it. To summarize, my friend caused dead pixels from pressure and I sold the assembly in the current condition. He did pay the remaining amount for me to get a replacement w/ equivalent cosmetic condition but I took this opportunity to spend more to get a like new condition assembly. Plus it was for peace of mind since I bought an assembly before and I wasn't happy with the condition. Getting to the point, these screens are still ridiculously expensive. At least sell your current assembly to get some money back, even if it has a cracked lcd.

When reassembling, your video goes rapidly and does not show some of the operations. Had an issue reconnecting the three-wire harness. The connectors are so tiny, they are hard to line up and press together.

I've replaced a display on Kindle Keyboard, Pretty straight forward and I even used the old one to display a Tardis (KK was Jailbroken) before I disconnected it. Which should display forever as eInk uses no power unless it refreshes!

zollotech have replaced hundreds of them. Goes better when you take it to an authorized service provider. Can't tell you how many system I had to repair that "do it yourself" folks messed up from using poor quality parts and/or not taking proper safety precaution and doing shoddy work because this was their first and only time ever trying it to save a few bucks. Best advice - AppleCare, and if you have issues beyond the 3 years get a new system. 3 years is a good run for any laptop if you use it regularly. If you can't afford a replacement after 3 years maybe you bought the wrong laptop to begin with, and get a cheap PC.

Story time, When my son was about 12months old he was very intrigued by the amazing glowing apple at the back of my MacBook Pro and I FINALLY let him get his curiosity out after soo many months of saying “no, no” lol. I didn’t think that such a small person could damage it. Sure enough he had one leg resting inside the Mac and the top part shut down on top his leg while touching and examining the glowing Apple. He pushed down and suddenly I heard a CrUncH sound😬😰 Oh no lol🤦‍♀️. No cracks on the actual screen but there is a big ugly dark line blocking the display with a bunch of other skinny lines next to it. I can still see everything except for what the lines are blocking and Apple is trying to tell me that it’s water damage and that they can’t repair🙄 I couldn’t figure out how to fix it so thanks for this video✌️

My lovely wife when something goes 'wrong' with the internet she closes the laptop so hard ! I told her not to do it, but guess what? I better not say anything anymore (DB..... Lol ) ha ha .
