Since the day I started watching Saga Thorsday I always wanted to do a faction review. Thank you and this was an amazing conversation about one of my favorite parts of history!

Hi, great content and a faction i really love. You both mention there is very little content for Macedonians. In the last year, i have uploaded 8 Macedonian battle reports. A few under the title of UK Grand melee scenarios. These might help :-)

I have watched them it just slipped my mind when we got to talking. Macedonians always need more content!

Would you recommend a unit of warriors on horses, or just one with javelins to support the Sarissa armed warriors?
@thehelpfulbarbarian4 ай бұрын
Both are helpful just depends on the opponent. I have slowly painted and carry both around. If there are elephants or lots of shooters in terrain javelins, anything else is mounted for the range.

@@thehelpfulbarbarian thank you, I think I'll go foot javelins also because they mentioned they can go after units hiding in uneven terrain.

I love my Thracians shame to hear they aren’t represented broadly!! Also some of my fav foundry minis to paint, using micron pens for the cloth print details.

Ooo, nice! I have a pack of those gifted from a buddy and they're great. Don't see Foundry represented as much as it used to back in the V1 days. I'm curious to see how they look with the micron pens. Have you posted pics anywhere?
@A.L.E.X.429 сағат бұрын
@ yeah Victrix et al kinda took over in recent years but those old foundry minis especially the Perry, Copplestone, Saleh etc have a charm and soul that makes them timeless. No I’m old school I don’t have a mini insta or anything but I can post some on your discord I’ve been looking for an excuse to join 🍻

What is the name of his podcast? I thought he said Strategic Saga but I don’t see that. I liked this episode as I am painting Macedonian’s as I listen to it.

Strategikon of Saga and it is hosted by Spotify but on most every podcast site. Good luck with the Macedonians and hope you enjoy listening to our motley crew of guys in Kansas City.

I disagree with the notion that Macedonians would be heavily outclassed in their age but perhaps it is due to army roster choices. I would argue for 3.5 points of mounted HG against shooty warbands, combined with 'Seize the Initiative' and 'Conquorers of the World' you can clean up a lot of stuff in your turn. The thing is that this heavy HG style can go horribly wrong and is not easy to navigate. And yes, if you are unfamiliar with the other boards, Alexander is a tough age to be in. You have to have a plan against the different factions. Indians, Persians and Greek City States are just too different from other armies to take the same approach against each of them.
