I solo travel quite a lot, and I would say if you aren't comfortable dining alone, going to a restaurant/wine bar that has bar seating is always nice - you often end up talking to the bar staff or other solo people next to you. Also going on a local walking tour can be a nice way to get your bearings and maybe meet some other people. I'm currently travelling in London and have been enjoying a lot of your tips, thank you!

Hi, as you mentioned you are currently travelling in London how is the situation there? Looking to travel to London as well but got some preconceptions about not being very safe but I still didn't searched too much about it, let me know =)

Hi, Maddie. I'm a 32 yr old woman who stumbled upon your videos one day. It embarasses me to say that I've only started to get my life in order recently. And your videos really inspire me to be independent and know what I want to do with my life. Hopefully one day, it won't be too late for me to travel on my own. For now, thank you for inspiring me and other people who look up to your vlogs.

My recommendations: - Photocopy (laminate for top marks) of key passport and licence so you don’t have to pull out the original (or have it on you) unless at immigration etc. - Don’t share ID documents via email but use a secure platform such as Keeper - Download map in google maps for offline navigation, you can pin your accommodation and the gps dot still works - Carry a charger, I’ve plugged in at shops cafes, or just asked people for directions - Free walking tours are the best way to meet people at the start of your trip to meet for other activities, meals etc

I've got some experience traveling alone, especially for work, and I do agree with Maddie that hotels are a better option for solo women. They have 24 hour receptions and often you need the key to enter the front door. In general, when I travel alone, I make sure to research a lot in advance and I always trust my gut feeling. If someone is making me feel uncomfortable, I remove myself from the situation and I do all that I can to protect myself. Also learn from my mistakes and avoid as much as you can to tell people you're there by yourself. Some people may take that as an invitation, when that may not be the case.

Love this! Started solo travelling when I was living in the UK, and there were cities I really wanted to visit, and there was no one to go with me. I later had my second trip, when it was cheaper to have a one night layover in Madrid on the way from Lisbon - back home. I then did Rome for 3 days alone to attend my college roommate's wedding and a bunch of other short trips! My last trip was to Bucharest, Romania a year ago. I really appreciate having the opportunity to do it, even though I have awesome friends as travel buddies and an amazing partner. I love your tips, They are very similar to mine. The only time, I did a night activity alone was going to a club in Barcelona, I really wanted to experience and then go to the beach to see the sunrise (which sounds super daring right now ) In Romania, i ordered food in two nights in a row, because I couldn't feel my feet after hours and hours of exploring! Cant wait to see where you go next!

Also last year I went to Italy too and I visited Cinque Terre, Portofino, Geneva, Pisa and Venice which was SO beautiful. Because of you I’m planing to go again cause, boy do I have a love for pasta 🍝🇮🇹

If you travel solo and are scared of being alone, check the season of the destination you‘re going. If you‘re going off-season, it might be cheaper and easier to find accomodation, but especially in hostels it can be quite empty and lonely

Done a bit of solo travel, I would recommend - having digital & paper copies of important documents - know where your countries nearest embassy or consulate is (maybe in different city or country) - try to only pack carry on (easy to move around) - keep day bag plain (to avoid drawing attention) - learn a few basic phrases in the native language - keep family/friends informed of plans and any changes - be confident when walking around (more so in cities) - get travel/medical insurance - most phone providers will let you know the counties emergency code (your phone may redirect emergency number if you put in your home countries) - check on travel gov for any travel updates etc (or your own countries) If you keep your wits about you, you’ll be safe. The most important thing is to have fun. - tip from my dad is not have some USD in case of emergency (often outside Europe/western counties, these will be excepted & may help in emergency situations)

When solo travelling stay in hostels (you can get a private room) because you’ll meet other travellers (often solo as well) that way. Trip Advisor activities like cooking classes or day tours are also good.

Solo traveler tip: a lot of hostels offer evening activities like game nights, movie nights, communal dinners and many others! If you want something fun to do, but don’t want to go out by yourself at night it’s a great alternative ;) Just read the hostel’s reviews, people usually mention activities there, if the hostel itself doesn’t advertise that on their website

I’d recommend printing all of your travel info and leaving it with someone at home or stick it up on your fridge back home if you have no one to leave it with. Sharing your location with someone is great until it starts to drain your battery and overheats your phone in a warmer climate. I personally don’t do it as much, but I do share my daily plan and send out all of my travel updates via an SMS to my mum (or WhatsApp when I’m outside of Europe). It’s always great to chat up someone from the country you’re going to for some tips before going if you can. Local advice is usually the best. English doesn’t always work, so learn some frazes in the local language. If you’re staying for a month or so I’d recommend going for a share house in some countries, but you gotta research them out first. Go for the ones with an age limit. And as a women I usually only go for Airbnb that’s hosted by a women. I’m okay with hotels, but never go for hostels. It’s best to have your own private toilet and get some flip flops for gods sake, you don’t wanna get foot mycosis.. Be careful with local food - you might not be used to it and you can catch something that locals are immune to. Especially if you’re prone to food poisoning That’s all that I can think of atm

For paid activities/tours I also recommend Viator and Get Your Guide. I too prefer to be out during the day rather when is dark, and also I'm a morning person, but to feel a bit more safe I have a personal alarm. Mine looks like a padlock but if I pull it, it makes a noise of 100db so it draws attention to you. I never ever had the need to use it, but sometimes in sketchy areas (that I cant avoid at all, like around train stations) I feel a bit more safe to carry it on my hand.

Maybe try acquiring a local SIM card (eg Lycamobile offers SIMs in many different countries, although this may be difficult if there's ID requirements or barriers to foreign credit cards) or, if you can get an e-SIM on your phone, there's a range of offerings from many different providers focusing on data or calls for travellers.

I’ve just allowed myself to think that maybe I should plan a solo trip for the first time in my life and the same moment I saw Your video in my recommendations on KZbin 😉😊 I’ll take it like a sigh that I do need to go on this trip. I’m from Ukraine 🇺🇦 and I stay in the country from Feb 24 2022. Due to the war men are not allowed to leave the country so I can’t go with my husband, and because of this war my friends are now all over the world far from me 😢
