I love the authenticity of this video. One admirable thing is that even though the size of the audience was not too large for Machel's performance and many persons would've been skeptical to publish this, the production team saw the bigger picture of Japanese people enjoying Soca to the max and decided to highlight it. I rate this, full 💯....

I always loved machel! He introduced me to soca as a kid. I was born in the USA but my parents are from Trinidad and they always talked about how great Trinidad was when they were kids. So I listened to machel since he was like the first name that came up when I searched up soca music and I loved Trinidadian music ever since

Glad a Trini artist can personify the very essence of cultural sharing. Learning from and embracing the best of every culture, is what makes our own Trinidadian culture strong. Soca music was born out of cultural fusion that merged the Afro-beats with the Indo-beats. So proud of this! So moved! The rest of the world is arguing over culture and we are celebrating it instead! YAY! I think soca music is good for Japan and I think we Trinis can learn a lot from their hard work ethic and discipline- DISCIPLINE is after-all in our national motto. The Japanese have this in spades as well as a beautiful artistic aesthetic and lots of spiritual wisdom, within their Shinto tradition which we can add to our repertoire of wisdom from Yoruban, Igbo and other African tribes, Hindu wisdom, Amerindian wisdom and more. In turn, they can get some feminine, sexual energy, fun, and sexiness from our soca. It releases the stress. A good soca fete is worth months of therapy! It helps women feel sexy and brings men and women together. A country with declining birth-rates and a growing rift between young men and women and a race to replace those needs with robots, clearly needs a little cultural injection of sexiness and boldness in the population.

This is nothing new. The Japanese have been embracing black Caribbean culture through reggae. There is Naki, a japanese reggae artist and there is Junko, the Japanese dance hall queen. Additionally, there are countless Japanese who follow reggae. There is even a group of Japanese girls who tan and braid their hair. You people are late if you thinks this is the first time a Caribbean man is invited to Japan. Ask Jamaican reggae artists about their concerts in Japan.
@roshanhrithick70277 жыл бұрын
Ask japan ppl what they really think of black. Ppl??
@DiSocaAnalyst7 жыл бұрын
It's true that colorism and racism exist in Japan. However, that was put into place by white supremacy, which goes all the way back to colonial days. Japan's society is very rigid and strict. Our culture is the opposite. It is freeing, liberating and full ah vibes. This is why Japan embraces us so much. It's the freedom and genuine love for our culture that attracts them. They also just have genuine appreciation for other cultures.
@namienamie21677 жыл бұрын
Roshan Hrithick Everywhere you go on this planet, people have something negative to say about the original hue-mans, black people, who were the first to walk the planet. They have a reason to hate. Pale skin is actually a mutation and doesnt have any useful function. Obviously, the people who invited him to Japan, cares not about his skin colour.
