For those who don't know the backstory to this song. MGK wrote this song last year after a bunch of artists who he was friends with died from drug overdoses and other things as well as personal friends. He felt death was all around him and wanted to leave his daughter one final message in case he died from drugs or something else in the near future. He has said multiple times that the love that he feels for his daughter is the only real love he'd ever felt in his life.

I lost my dad very suddenly last year in June. He was my goddamn rock and he said I was his. The longest time that I hadn't talk to him was maybe 4 days, my entire life/since I was born. I'm 26. It's beyond devastating to lose him still. He was the only person in my family that I was really close with(And same for him). Never hanging up the phone or saying goodnight/bye for the day without saying "I love you". if we forgot (only a few times), one of us would call back immediately to say it. Just grateful that the last words I spoke to him was "I love you". So this song is heart wrenching. One of the the most hard hitting songs I have ever heard. I know he's somewhere saying "It's alright" to me, exactly as MGK described. I'm glad I have this song to listen on the days when I'm struggling with my grief. Thank you Colson for this song. Oh my good lawd, I'm so sorry sweetie. I lost 3 people within a few years apart from Murder. My brothers ex and her friends gave him about 4 hotshots to his chest. The needles had 3 different kinds of methamphetamine and heroin in them. All because he was over his ex. My brother was like my twin. Our birthdays are same day, same month, two years apart. We looked exactly alike, talked the same even after leaving our hometown of Columbus, Ohio The Bottoms and moving to Utah and then to Idaho after my horrific rollover. Then 2 years before that our biological dad was murdered in his apartment in Dayton Ohio & wasn't found till flies covered the apartment window & his body was decomposing!! Before that our maternal grandmother was murdered by her younger husband because MeMaw had money from working her butt off and he wanted it but after he beat her which we didn't find out about the abuse till after her death, she decided she wanted a divorce and he made sure she didn't divorce him & he got a lot of her belongings including the camper that's been in my family since honey b made a driving camper! 2 of the murders happened in Ohio, one in Cleveland and one in Dayton. My brothers murder happened in Idaho. But we can't get any help from anyone on who what when where how why and can I show them what karma is?! We know who did grandma's and my brothers and Ronnie and I didn't really know our biological dad. I had just started to get to know him in 2013!! I completely feel for you and your brother. My brother was the only person since MeMaw and our dad passed, who truly loved me for me & wanted me in his life!! He was helping me to not self harm or commit suicide again. I've been brought back every time and it irritates the hell outta me!! I'm putting you, you're brother, and y'all's family and friends at the top of my prayers list and I'ma keep y'all on it. I hope, pray and wish with all my broken heart and tired soul and every being in me that your brother is able to kick the opiate addiction (been there done that and it's one of the worst thing's I've ever been through and I was beat at 2yrs old by my ex step dad, the chomo, in my kidneys with a 2x2 or 2x4 because I peed my pants! Then he made me stand in the corner for 8hrs military style until Momz got home from work and my forehead was bleeding!) Please know that my family's and my dreams, hopes, prayers, wishes, amazingly great vibes are with y'all. If I can reach Colton (we're cousin's from what my brother and biological dad said) I'll let him know that he really, really, really, really, really, really needs to contact you if possible or at least you're brother and read you're comment.
