One can use that to straighten large bent hydraulic rams in a heavy press but the steel can shatter when struck under high pressure.

The Moore Company is the ultimate machine shop in the USA, the screws have high accuracy only in the direction of the vernier scale.

If i am doing a run of parts in the Kurt with modified soft jaws for fixturing , i have to use a torque wrench to get repeatability to allow for the flex .

Yes, it is like that with a lot of things on machinery even using table locks on the mill without trying to repeat with the same pressure is another variable that can go unnoticed, thanks!

I have them coated with thick oil and have 60 watt or 100watt incandescent light bulbs under the tarps to stop condensation, and it works in this climate, I have a 100watt bulb in the lathes coolant sump, thanks.

This is a recurring theme to Robrenz teachings in the shop. 00:35. He works at extreme precision level so it's something he deals with often. "Metal is like rubber only harder"

My needs are basic relating directly to the tolerances fitting precision ball bearings as is listed and recommended in the Barden Bearings catalogs and instruction manuals. The general maximum allowable error is .0002", not very much.
