For performance you can soften or round the sharp edge between the seat surface and the rest of the valve. It helps the airflow when the valve is bearly open which is very important. Also keep the contact area between the exhaust valve and it's seat as wide as possible to increase heat transfer to reduce the chance of detonation. That's what I did on my championship Harley which only had four valves. It's a lot more work for a car engine but worth it.

why wouldnt you insert the valve into to head with lapping compund then attatch drill to end of valve as you did on workbench but rather using the drill to spin valve while pullin the valve into the seatwith pressure , going in and out with valve and therefore both valve and seat are same angle and seat properly together?

Too much material needs removed from the valve. You're grinding the seat way more, unnecessarily. Not to mention you'll develop a nasty lip on the valve that you won't with the file procedure.

A diamond file works well for facing valves. Thats all i use when i face the valves in my lathe
